John Myung is the bassplayer and co-founder of the progressive metal band Dream Theater. John Myung grew up in New York.
He grew up with John Petrucci. They always had the feeling that they wanted to do something together. He later went on to study with John Petrucci at Berklee College of Music, where they met their future bandmate Mike Portnoy.
John, for me, is one of the most important musicians within Dream Theater. His awesome and complex basslines are a important part of the Dream Theater sound. It's just unbelievable how relaxed his technique is, while playing so incredibily fast.
I fell in love with his Yamaha signature serie bass. The pearl inlay in the neck is so beautiful. I have the same inlay in my bass-neck. When my friend Huub Boel build my bass, he made the inlay exactly the same. I am still so happy with the bass, it not only looks awesome, but it plays like a charm...
