My program manager at work plays the drums for a hobby. We are talking a lot about music and we do like a lot of the same genres.
He sended me an app last week with "Try this" in de message, with the YouTube video. It's a basscover of the song "Hit me with your rhythm Stick" by Ian Dury. I was shocked about the complexity of the bassline in the song. Off course I knew the song but never paid any attention to the bass part. I must admit, in the studio version you can't hear it very good, so I never noticed it.
As you can see in this cover, it is a real fast and steady line with a kind of walking bass. I practiced my butt of this weekend. I manage it at 75% of the original speed, but full speed will cost me my fingers :). So I will keep on pushing and am sure that after the holidays I will play it together with the program manager on drums :)
I will record it next weekend and will post my development in the song :)
Have a great evening,
Peter
