This week I spent a lot of time on Youtube. Just be surprised by the proposals from YouTube based on what you have watched.
My musical interest was naturally dominated by Eddy van Halen this week. although I did not listen to his music every day, I was still very impressed by his passing. Only 65 years old. The striking thing is that I also watched an interview in which the theme "What it's mean to be american". Funny because Eddy is Dutch but well .... At one moment in the interview he says that he will makes music until he becomes 65 and will retire ... How painful it is with today's knowledge.
Van Halen was eventually discovered by Gene Simmons of Kiss. Somewhere in the late 70's. Gene responds to Eddy's death in the interview below. Very emotional and honest .... Gene normally only talks about himself or arrange to turn a interview to him... But this is great...
It's bizarre to see how much his death triggered. The whole music world is turned upside down .... He has been such a big influence for many guitarists. Nice to hear that everyone, including the great ones, were and are amazed at the way Eddy taps on his guitar. A technique that was new before that time and is still difficult to master.
Eddy's son Wolfgang had been playing with Van Halen for a number of years. He joined the band when he was 16, as a father I think it would be great to play in a band with your child ...
I see it a bit like grief processing to watch the videos and listen ... Weird isn't it
Have a great weekend,
Peter
