Hi all 👋🏻
Today I want to share with you all our TRAIN journeys from the Gatwick airport/ train station to Market Harborough, England.
On Tuesday 07 April 2022.
Finally after more than 2 years, we could go abroad and visit family… 🥰🤗 we haven’t seen in such a long time.
The things we need to cope with when living abroad.
We got up at 03:15am in the night to start driving at 04:00am towards the airport. We arrived there after 35 minutes -ish 😉 early start…
No queues at check in and security.
The waiting area at the airport at our gate, was empty at 5am in the morning… the plane was also almost empty only 1/3 full.
After we landed with a plane ✈️ in Gatwick, England… we walked to the train station not that far last Thursday.
We looked at the signs to see which platform we needed to go.
It was platform 2.
Walking through some areas we could look out at this area. We see they are working at the station.
No trains yet, we are early.
And decide to walk around a bit…
View towards the left.
A pamphlet on a wall… with a moon 🌙
We decided to walk to the end of the platform and wait at some benches. Getting some fresh air. 😎
I walked to the end to take this photograph.
Between platform 1 & 2 we find this sign. And a train stopped.
Let’s have a closer look.
It’s not the train we have to take. I take a few more photographs while waiting 😊
Another train passes by…
And an airplane… ✈️
Let’s follow it along over the train tracks.
Until it disappears…
But not long after another larger plane comes by rapidly… I just caught it before it would disappear behind the building. ✈️🛬😎
Very cool to see!
We see our train is coming very soon.
We walk now towards the middle of the platform.
And see a train in the distance…
Our train arrives 😁🎉🚂
Almost…
And it stops.
We jump in.
Find some free seats and sit down. This train is going to King’s Cross St. Pancras London. Where we switch trains.
Our views during the almost 1 hour train ride out of the window.
Still some works on some train tracks.
We passed a station.
And see a beautiful view from the cityscape of LONDON, with an old and new bridge in the foreground. 😎🌆
A little bit further.
More large buildings we see…
Still LONDON 🇬🇧
Now I see we are going through a bend and we can see the train we are on going through it…
I like views like this…
And the last one before we are on a straight track again.
We are going over a bridge and see some famous LONDON SIGHTS!
We have not much time after we arrived in the train station in London as we need to hurry to catch the next train. But I managed to get a few photos before we leave…
The station hall…
Walking fast towards the platforms.
We jump in right away and search for our seats we had on our train tickets.
But… after speaking to somebody in the train / an employee… it turns out that Trainline (an app we bought our tickets through) had not the train updated to a smaller version. And because they were fully occupied our seats were not exisiting 😬😳🤯
So for our 1 hour last train journey we had to stand in a hallway/ corridor with our suitcases and a few other people that had the same problem…
Our view out…
After 2 hours on 2 trains, after landing by Plane and driving with our car to the airport, we arrived at our destination and our family members picked us up…
🤗🥰😁😎 We are still in the UK…
Hope you enjoyed looking through my photographs and reading my post about this journey we had last Thursday on these 2 trains through the UK 🇬🇧
Soon, we go on a 4 hour train ride to Edinburgh, Scotland 🏴 I will post our further explorations of it in due course 😉
Thank you so much for looking, and reading. And if you liked my post, an upvote or re-blog is always welcome 🙏🏻
Have a great day all 😎👋🏻
