He told me he would perform better in his exams next term after seeing the way I treated his sister.
Harriet could not perform better in primary 2 and this made me strike an agreement with her. I told her I would prepare fried rice for her if and only if she comes out on top of the class. She was trying in her former school but in this present school, something seems not clear. It is either her teachers are not trying or she is not trying. I tried her in mathematics and she was perfect with it. I also gave her some work in her English, she was able to perform better. She was exceptional in her quantitative reasoning. I kept on wondering why she would not perform better in school.
My landlord's daughter was in the same school and she has been the one topping the class. Now that my daughter is in the same class as her, I wanted my daughter to come out first (take over the position from her).
Initially, she was afraid, but I gave her the courage to keep up with her effort. I told her I would cook fried rice for her only if she beat my landlord's daughter. She promised to top her class after hearing fried rice as this is her favorite food. She loves it so much.
"Top your class and I would prepare fried rice and chicken for you". This was our agreement which she must fulfill.
Her brother, Harrison on the other hand asked if I would also prepare for him when he topped his class. I told him I will do the same as her sister.
D-Day came and my children got prepared. They were serious with their studies and were not ready to leave any stone unturned. My girl would not allow me to have some rest, instead would give me any work she was not clear with. I was even a little free from her but her daddy was just there to put her through, especially in the aspect of mathematics and quantitative reasoning.
After the exams, she was so happy to have done her exams perfectly. She promised to make it the way I wanted it.
My boy was also happy but his mood sent something strange to me.
They went to school to collect their results and behold my daughter was the best. She came back in a happy mood. She said, "Mum, I have fulfilled the promise I made to you and now it's your turn to seal the deal because an agreement is an agreement".
I have no choice but to make her happy.
My boy was angry just because of his result. He did not perform too well and was expecting me to break the agreement we had together. I told him to prepare harder for his next exams and that I will give him whatever he wants.
My girl ate her food with a very mighty chicken. She was so happy while eating.
Mum, can we have the same agreement for my next exams? She asked.
