As someone whose currently working hard to get a better job I related hard to Kenneth. While my position isn't as precarious Kenneths I really am looking forward to someday calling mom and dad and being like "Yes I'm properly employed!"

You do an excellent job showing just how hard it is for Kenneth to find employment, but one thing that would have added a bit of punch is some ways would have been some specifics, like what kind of work he wanted or what his education is. Concrete elements like that can really help bring a story to life that much more.
