We are came into this world with different expectations, even our parents that birthed us have high expectations for us as children that have been brought up into the family one of their expectations is that we turn out to be successful in life and excel in all our endeavours
The expectations I will be talking about today is about the story of love and romance that looked so real but got cut short at the end of the day. This is my entry for Theinkwell weekly prompt and the topic is (EXPECTATIONS) This is the story of Amanda a young vibrant lady who is very beautiful and ready for marriage let's dive right in.
Amanda!
Her mothers voice jolted her up from sleep, it was all a dream she sighed , and looked over at the other side of the bed where her roommate Benita was sleeping soundly. She was preparing for her final exams in the university . So she got up from bed lazily stretched and headed out to fetch with her roommate.
It happened that she had a movie shoot that day for a school project on illegal child adoption and she had unserious group members so must of the work load was on her it was too much on her and she was trying to hold it all together and that was when she met the fine gentleman who swept her off her feet.
Emmanuel who is a doctor in Enugu state joined a group on Facebook where he met Amanda in a Facebook dating group and that was how they linked up and started up their conversation on Facebook and then they progressed to whatsApp and this birthed a beautiful relationship between the two.
That looked promising from all angles, Amanda is the type of girl that tells her mom about everything that happens in her , she was actually a mommy's girl. Benita returns from lectures one day to see Amanda giggling and talking to someone over the phone and she asked excitedly.
Amanda baby ,who was that over the phone, it's been long I saw you this excited and Amanda tells her about Emmanuel and she was so happy for her and went on to dramatically shout we have a wedding to plan . Benny stop please how sure are you Amanda replied laughing. The overly excited Benita proceeded to Searching for wedding dress and shoes online and flooded amanda's WhatsApp with them .
So when it was Amanda's birthday Emmanuel threw a very large party for her and invited all her friends it was indeed a very beautiful moment for Amanda to have the love of life beside her on her special day. It was on this day that he told Amanda that was making plans of traveling out of the to do his masters and he would want pay her bride price and get married to her before he travels out.
Amanda was so excited about this news and he started processing his visa application and all other process involved it was indeed a trying time for Amanda and Emmanuel because they were all praying that he's visa would be approved, so all the expenses are not in vain.
The little fact to be known is that Emmanuel and Amanda started dating in the month of October and that was her birth month too .So from the looks of things Emmanuel was meant to travel out by the 5th of January the next year.
Amanda was so excited that her expectations in the relationship was coming to reality and she informed her mom about it. They were all waiting for the day he would come to ask for their daughters hand in marriage.
But as the saying goes when something looks too good be true disappointment follows. Emmanuel called her one day and informed her that his visa has been approved and he would leave January and she celebrated with anticipating that he would fulfill his promises of coming to marry her.
But Emmanuel dramatically changed overnight he began to reduce how he picked her calls and texted her to check up on her she noticed that something fishy was going on and she tried to reach out and ask him what he pushed her aside all through the last month of the year. And on the 1st of January some days before he will travel he told her that he would want to take her to a native doctor shrine to to swear that you will not be with another man and as you will never give herself to another man while he is away.
She said no to it because she came from a Christian family and her parents would not be proud of her if she should do that just because she wanted to keep a man and then Emmanuel droped the bombshell and said that he had someone else all along. At this point all of Amanda expectations were dash to the world and she was heartbroken before a very long time but thankfully her mom who was aware of the situation was able to call so her and let her know that she can love it again and be loved the right.
Her roommate Benita also consoled her she was able to regain her happiness.
