There are moments when a man has everything. He has a name, a position, a future. And just then he has to decide what is really important to him. Such a moment he had a young man who could have become a ruler but chose to silence. It was him Saint Sava, the first Serbian archbishop. Born Rastko, the son of the great prefect. He had everything what the world has to offer. But in his heart another longing grew. Longing for God, for peace and meaning which does not pass. one night, no noise, no goodbye he left. He left the court, power, safety. And went to Mount Athos. Not because he hated the world. But because he asked deeper life. Saint Sava knew that one cannot serve God if you keep holding on for passing.
Later he returned, but not as a prince and lord. He came back as a servant. He brought peace to quarreling brothers, order to the church his faith to the people. Saint Sava did not rule by force. He led by example and said that people are not saved by laws, but people with a pure heart. It was written down once that he was saying: "Where there is no love, even faith does not remain." Sava built bridges between brothers, between nations, between God and man. He didn't ask to be celebrated. He asked that people live in peace. If you stand today before an important decision.
If you are in doubt between the easy way and the right way… This story is for you. Saint Sava would tell you: "Don't ask what will you get Ask whom will you serve".
Because the right size it doesn't measure up what you own than that what are you willing to give up?
