The Nostalgia Shop!
Once on a young summer evening, the sun has a cool smile and I met her at the nostalgia shop. Soft kisses of the numb wind were blowing slowly and she; she was like dancing slowly with the rhythm.
No, I was wrong. It was the old gramophone records of some unknown artist singing an original folk song. Old clocks, antique pieces of art, props, household items, books, comics and what not. I was bewildered watching them.
Busy city streets were jostling with the office folks crowd. The narrow passage through which I've found this odd shop was totally calm. A beautiful narrow lake and a lash greenery was awaiting me to embrace them.
I was exhausted, bored and worried at the same time. After a hectic day, this thing happens.
I had no plan to buy such a thing and surely I wasn't on a holiday. However, I was like stone through distance from the shop and abruptly I heard a soft tone that murmured into my ear. It was a beautiful musical instrument called domra from the lute family with a round body and four metal strings.
Excuse me! I asked? She came with a gentle smile on her face. Hi sir! I was noticing you for a while, and did you like this domra?- she asked. I was like yes, I like this thing. But sir it’s not such items like the other antiques; should I suggest you another?
I said no. Only this one; this one I know! I like it at the first place and I know about it’s tone. How nice! she replied. I was about to ask the rate for purchasing but my eyes were stacked onto some books that you'll never find easily.
Though the books were not in good condition, I found them tempting. I took a book and sniffed the aroma which I love mostly about old books. She saw it and I guess couldn’t help herself smiling on it.
I thought she was thinking that boy, look; look there. The comics section is over here. Poor me!
Anyway, it was like half an hour since I was travelling through some old memories of mine. But astonishingly there was a person guiding me about them. And that is how the ice broke and our story begins.
Believe me, I bought the domra, some old books as well as a wooden lamp on that very day. We talked and talked and talked; it was about three or four hours we were talking.
She seemed excited about many things that I also like. I don't know how many people still care that much about their favourite things and harbour them till or until; whatever!
The Rain was abrupt and soothing those days! Suddenly, she came into reality. She told me, I need to close the shop, it’s already late. Oh, sure thing! I replied and helped her wrap things up. All the roads of Paris were slowly calming down. And the beautiful street lights were on with their halogen vibes.
We started walking and the Tower top was clearly visible from there. O' Gustav! I sighed. She noticed that too. Ask me, did you say anything? I replied, did you hear anything? Nothing! Nothing!
She smiled and it started drizzling. Amazing it was! The rain! The lights! The dance! And the glittering lights of Paris!
The story begins....
Thank you.
