Miranda, wake up; you can't possibly be sleeping by this time, shouted Mirabel, shaking her sister to wake up from her deep slumber.
Mirabel and Miranda are twin sisters; they are both graduates of petroleum engineering and have been looking for jobs since after their nysc. Miranda finally got an offer from one of the reputable oil and gas firms after two years of looking for a job.
Mirabel and the entire family were happy that one of the twins had finally gotten a job; it would help to ease the burden on their parents in the area of foodstuff and some utility bills, while their parents focused on training the remaining two siblings. Mirabel kept shaking Miranda until she grumpy opened her eyes and angrily asked her.
Why won't you allow me to sleep? I hope whatever reason that made you wake me up is worth it. Mirabel gave her a bombastic side eye.
So if I don't wake you up, that's how you will lay down here like a log of wood snoozing away your life. Have you forgotten that you have an interview and a presentation today?
Miranda stretched and asked Mirabel, Mira, please, what is the time, Mirabel looked at her and shook her head before saying the Time. It's 8:30 am, and if I can remember correctly, your interview is slated to be by 11;00 am, and your presentation is by 9:30 am.
Miranda sprang out of bed, went straight to the bathroom, and took her towel from the balcony. She was shouting Mira, why didn't you wake me up early? Oh, I thought my alarm was on
Do you know how many minutes it took me to wake you up? I hope you are not trying to shift the blame. Better start taking responsibility for your own mistakes, and why are you always sleeping like you don't have a problem? Mirabel said under one breath, frowning and yelling at her sister at once.
Thank you, my darling sister, for waking me up, I just wish you woke me up earlier than this all the same. Thank you for waking me up. Please help me to arrange my documents on the table, Miranda said, trying to calm her sister from exploding in anger, she yelled thank you, don't mention it to her sister.
Mirabel sighted and started arranging her sister's documents accordingly in the file. Then she paused and looked up at the documents in her hand, and something was missing.
She calls out Miranda's name.
Miranda, did you pick up your original waec from the waec office yesterday, and your clothes,? Did you also pick them up from the laundry guy?
Miranda let out a loud scream, and their parents, who were sitting in the living room, ran inside to check what had happened to their girls and why Mirabel ran to the bathroom to find out what had happened to her sister.
Mirabel hit the bathroom door,Mimi, are you alright? What's happening? Please open the door.
Miranda, not knowing when she let out that scream tried to compose herself and say it's nothing, I just forgot to pick up neither of the two things that you mentioned,
Her parents, who were already inside when Mirabel asked Miranda what happened, turned to Mirabel to get an idea of what Miranda was talking about. Mirabel, knowing her parents and how they would react, told them it was just ladies' talk and that her sister forgot to pick up her shoes for the interview; she said this, trying to put up a smiling face.
Mrs. Chibueze, the twin's mother, scolded Miranda for shouting at the top of her voice like that; she gave her a stern warning not to repeat that again; that her blood pressure just went up, and she left. Miranda opened the bathroom door a little to give her sister a thumb for covering up for her.
When Miranda was done bathing, she saw her clothes on the bed and her files well arranged. She hugged her sister; it turns out that Mirabel, knowing the kind of person her sister was, went and picked up both the waec and her clothes from the laundry guy without her sister's knowledge.
Miranda was running late for her presentation, and she hurriedly dressed and, packed her documents, ran downstairs, where her father was waiting for her to drop her off. Her mother and her twin sister echo at the same time Go storm the castle
By the time Miranda got to the venue, it was her turn to take over the podium; because she wasn't well prepared and settled, she didn't perform well and lost the presentation. Her dad encouraged her and took her to the interview, and she was able to smash her interview and get the job but was still feeling bad cause she had been chasing the contract (presentation)for a long time, only to fall at the last minute.
When she got home, her sister and mother were waiting for her in the living room; when they asked her how it went, she said never storm the castle unprepared.
Her sister told her not to worry. There would be a next time; at least she didn't lose everything.
