You had always dreamed so big all your life, but deep down, you had also always doubted if those dreams would ever come alive. There was even a time when life smiled upon you, and your life seemed to make a lot of sense. At that point, you had more faith than the other days that have passed that maybe—just maybe—those dreams ain’t too big, and you believed so much that you would be able to achieve them.
Then another time came, and everything started looking so blurry, even blurrier than earlier. You dared to dream before, but you lacked the strength to do so this time. You were tired of the games life was playing with you, and you lowered your expectations to avoid further disappointments. You were ready to follow life's course wherever it drifted. You suddenly agreed to take anything life brought to you without questions.
One day, you took a step in your life, and you didn’t even expect anything good to come out of it; you were still just flowing with the vibe. But that was the step that changed your whole story. At first, you thought you were just having a really really good dream, and you were probably on your bed, holding back your tears and begging yourself not to wake up yet.
All the things you wanted were right before you, and you didn’t even know how or why. It wasn’t even because you didn’t stress it; you knew it was something else that you couldn’t figure out yet. You low-key thought it was those prayers you prayed in tears, just because you were tired of everything and couldn’t wait for things to get better. The thought made you scared because you knew you had wished for terrible things at that same, time when you thought you had hit a wall months ago. You were so sad, angry, depressed and felt like you were all alone in the world.
You plainly told God to take your life then because you were very exhausted and thought you couldn’t do it anymore. You quickly made a soft prayer that would maybe somehow neutralize the curse you had put on yourself that day. You didn’t know if it would work; you just wanted to try. If you were not dreaming that moment, your best moments were right before you, and it was all you had been waiting for all your life.
Then, you saw yourself at the airport with your carton-colored cargo pants and the super cute black top you got at Oshodi Market the last time you went to buy things you needed to take along with you to the countries you would be visiting in the next couple of years. You have always wanted to be a adventurer, and you finally found that company that would pay all expenses for your travels just to make nice contents for them in return. Eazy peezy
You checked in, and you were called minutes later to hop on the next flight, which was obviously your flight. As you walked down the hall, you repeatedly pinched yourself until you almost turned red. ‘If this is a dream, this is the best time to wake up stupid!’. You mistakenly shouted softly, and everyone looked at you like you were out of your mind. Hot tears of joy rolled down your red cheeks because you realized at that moment, that it was real, and that was your life now.
You got to the gate and realized this was the closest you have been to an airplane in your entire life. You immediately had electrifying goosebumps all over your body. You were so happy and so anxious, and your heart was racing so fast that you thought it was going to jump out of your chest. You calmed yourself down before you became a medical patient and eventually missed your most anticipated flight. You thought that would be really pathetic, and you probably wouldn’t forgive yourself.
Just like you had always wanted, you freaking sat by the window!! You had always wanted that, and right that moment, it was happening, and you couldn't contain your excitement. You took videos and pictures and ate all the weird airplane foods. You slept at a point and woke up to the most beautiful night view ever. It was like the stars were down and you were up this time around; it was so beautiful.
You arrived at your destination, and you took a cab to the hotel you had booked. You got to your room, and it was perfect; it was like you imagined it. It was very cozy, and you could see the whole city from your hotel room.
As you lay on your very soft bed and began to fall asleep slowly, you knew that if you never woke up the next morning, you died a fulfilled human.
