Who says nursing is not a rewarding profession?
Do you know that being a nurse is a sacred privilege?
The personal growth and self-discovery that come with it, the soft skills imbibed almost effortlessly, and the reward of pulling someone back from the cold hands of death, are these not worth it?
On this particular day, our clinical experience truly began in earnest. I didn’t know exactly what to expect, but my heart was full of anticipation. I wasn’t anxious, just curious and open to whatever experience that awaits me.
As we stepped into the hospital that morning, a woman was rushed in almost simultaneously. She was in intense labour pain and visibly distressed. Her case was immediately treated as an emergency. The student nurses were invited into the labour room to observe the process. She was assisted through a vaginal delivery.
Wow.
It was my first time seeing a woman in active labour, my first time witnessing, with my own eyes, a woman in the lithotomy position, fighting through pain with courage. That moment was very raw and real
I cannot fully describe how I felt, but one truth stood out clearly to me:
the power of a woman is extraordinary, and the calling of a nurse is nothing but divine.
