In ancient times, the Brahma King and Queen of Varanasi had two sons named "Mahinthakumara" and "Sandakumara". When the two sons reached the age of running, the Queen passed away. At that time, the King appointed another Queen as Queen. That Queen gave birth to a son named "Thuriyakumara". The King loved the newborn son Thuriya so much that he allowed the Queen to come and pray to him. The Queen said, "I don't need to ask for anything now. I will ask for it later when I need it."
When the prince Thuriya grew up, the Queen He asked the king to give his son, Thuriya, the throne. The king refused, saying that it was not appropriate because he had two other sons. However, the queen repeatedly pleaded, "Your Majesty... I am asking for the same reward that the king has given me." Finally, the king agreed to grant the queen's request. However, fearing for the lives of the two sons, he called them and said with tears in his eyes, "Sons... You will return to the palace when your father is gone. For now, go and live in the forest." And then he sent them away. The two sons respectfully submitted their father. As they left, Prince Thuriya, who was playing in the royal courtyard, asked him to come with them, and they went into the forest with their two brothers.
When the princes reached the Himalayan forest, the elder brother Mahintha said to his younger brother, "Brother... Go to the lake and take a bath, and then draw water with the lotus for your brothers".
The lake where the young prince had gone was guarded by a giant. King Vaisavam had given the giant permission to capture and eat those who came to the lake to bathe, drink, and pick lotus flowers. However, before eating, the giant first asked the question that King Vaisavam had asked him: "What is the law that protects the world?" He released those who could answer and killed those who could not.
The young prince, without thinking, went down into the lake and was captured by the giant. Then the giant asked the prince, "What is the law that protects the world?" The prince answered, "The sun and the moon," and the giant captured the prince because he gave the wrong answer.
When the younger brother Thuriya did not return, his elder brother Mahintha sent prince Sandakumara to follow and to find prince Thuriya. Prince Sandakumara was also captured by the giant. Prince Sandakumara answered the giant's question, "Four sides." Because he answered incorrectly, Prince Sandakumara was also captured.
His elder brother Mahintha thought that he was in danger because his two brothers had not returned, so he followed them to the lake. When they reached the lake, they only saw the footprints of the brothers coming down and not going up. "Someone must be guarding this lake," he thought, and did not immediately go into the lake, but waited to see what happened.
Then the giant pretended to be a farmer and persuaded Prince Mahintha to go into the lake. The prince, seeing the farmer's behavior, recognized him as a giant and asked, "Have you captured my two brothers?" The giant replied, "I captured them because I could not answer your question." Mahintha The prince wanted to know the question of the giant. Then the giant asked, "What is the law that protects the world?" The prince answered, "Shame and fear," and based on those two laws, he preached to the giant.
The giant was pleased with the prince's teachings and said, "Your answer is correct. Therefore, let one of the two younger brothers go, and choose the one you want." So the prince asked for the younger brother, Thuriya.
Then the giant said, "My dear prince... you know the law that protects the world, but you do not practice it. You do not respect the elder brother and only ask for the younger brother." Then Prince Mahintha said, "Prince Thuriya is not my real brother. He is my half-brother. It is because of him that I have come to this Himalayan forest. Therefore, "If we say that the younger brother has been eaten by the giant, no one will believe us. We are afraid of being ridiculed, so we asked for the younger brother," he explained.
Then the giant was pleased with the answer of the prince Mahinth
