Have you ever seen a movie of a wealthy family with over pampered, ill-mannered,rude trust fund kids that behave like the world is owned by their father. All because their parents have the wealth to get them whatever they wish for.

Well that's the kind of family I came from. My name is Mira. I'm the last of the house and I can shamefully tell you all that I'm not in support of the way my other sibling Marvin behaves. And to top it all up my parents don't see anything wrong with his character. Okay maybe I'm exaggerating, I admit I have my own flaws too but not as hard as my elder brother. One time I saw my brother splash dirty water at the gardener's kid because he came up the porch to watch me and my sibling play video games.
John was our gardener's only kid of a single Mum. And unlike us all he was the opposite of I and my brother. He was placed on scholarship by my father and as such he attended the same high school with us. He happens to be the same age as my elder brother Marvin and I can boldly tell you that he was a brilliant kid. Far more brilliant than I am or any of my other siblings. Not just in school John was smart in other life issues. And far more better he was a handsome guy that I had a huge crush on. I hoped one day he would notice me. One time I had told him of how I felt at the garden as I watched him shear the flowers and he had replied.
"Mira, you're a beautiful girl and there's no doubt about that. But we're worlds apart and as such we can't date."
"But …" I tried talking.
"There's no buts here. We're better off as friends. I wouldn't want problems with your parents as they're the only reason I'm still schooling and my Mum is putting food on our table" he said walking away from me.
That was not all about this handsome dude. I could tell the time by reading the clock but John could tell the time by stepping out in the sun. Marvin was good at sports but John was better. Although he isn't from a rich family just like I was, he was the golden kid of his mum. His school trophy cabinet was much fuller than Marvins and that made Mum and Marvin jealous of him.
Mum would always wonder how a kid who was being sponsored in school with her husband's money would be better at almost everything than her kid.
I can recall vividly how John had been selected by Mr Suu, our physical education teacher in school, to lead the school basketball team which my brother happens to be in the same team. This had enraged Mum and she had shown up in school and walky up to our physical education teacher in school to ask him to let Marvin lead the basketball team. With the option of offering him a huge amount of money. Mr Suu had refused. This led Mum to making Dad terminate John's scholarship.
Now, driving down the stadium I'm on my way to the Lakers Bowl to see John who was now a professional basketball player play. After his scholarship was terminated by Dad, his mum resigned from being our gardener and that was the last time I heard or saw him. Until a few years later I saw on TV he had signed a huge deal with the Lakers basketball team. And within a few months, he had become a big player sought by so many other teams. I was happy for him.
I never stopped crushing on John in fact I still had a crush on him. After his mum had resigned and they had packed out from our house I had asked for his number from his other friends in school as the one I had wasn't connecting. I had gone round the town and also made stops at his favorite eatery in town just to see if I could see him but all was in vain. I wished he was okay and hoped that one day we will meet again.
I parked at the lot and got out of the car. Dressed in my nicest gown that made sure to reveal my contours, I prayed I'll be able to meet John after the game. The bowl was a big one I thought as I stared at the gigantic structure before heading inside. I was on a mission and that's to get John back into my life.
