Wanted to share something I wrote last year.
Cause I am writing something else now, and just pulled out the last thing I wrote.
It’s full moon night, location of the story – some unnamed expanse in the Pacific Ocean.
“Oh! How I wish you could see my other side, but such are the ways of the Universe, even if I want to give you my all to you, I cannot.”
The Ocean sighed, “The entire Earth admires you, you know the secrets of every lover, poets have had passed countless sleepless nights just by looking at you. When the humans touched you they felt glorified. What else do you what?”
“You are the Prussian blue velvet cloth that I cannot help but long to touch. Dearest, please do tell me don’t you crave to me touched too? The tides that we caused has now stirred waves in my heart, let these mortal humans be damned, please embrace me once.”
The Ocean in his usual graveness answered, “You only love me because I am the only one to show you what you look like.”
Restless is the Moon now, she desperately wishes the clouds to cover her up. “What do you know of what I look like! The one and only side that you see of me, is left scorched and bare by the prying eyes of the Sun. The other side forever hidden is as cold as your ice caps. From such a distance you cannot even imagine the number of scars this ‘flawless beauty’ bears.”
The Ocean is not sure what to say. Unlike the Ocean, the Moon knows of herself. The Ocean is unaware and afraid of his own depth. How he wishes he could find the means to comfort her sun-scorched layer, but he himself is heavy at heart, almost immovable, he can only flow. He wants to thank her for continuously pushing and pulling him, he wants to assure her that it is him not her who is responsible for their unrequited love.
They did not talk anymore that night. Both of them had the same unsaid thing in their minds, “Oh Love! Please let me be you tonight.”
