It has been more than a month since his wife died, Mr. Hasyim looks like a crazy person. Mr. Hasyim who usually looks handsome, neat with a parted hairstyle and a black leather jacket that he usually wears when going to work now looks messy. His hair, mustache and beard are getting longer and unkempt.
Likewise with his house which used to be the dream of the villagers because it was always neat plus the beauty of the flower garden and small gardens in front and behind his house is now like a broken ship, messy and full of trash from noodle and mineral drink wrappers. the flowers in his garden which were often watered every morning and evening by Mr. Hasyim and his wife are now dry and unkempt, some of them are rotting.
the little children in the village who used to be very close and liked Mr. Hasyim because of his friendly and sociable character have now turned into a scary figure. when meeting children in the middle of the road, Mr. Hasyim likes to suddenly cry and scream, sometimes likes to laugh out loud and glare with his cold smile. no wonder the children in the village are often scared and immediately run away when they meet.
"I feel very sorry for Mr. Hasyim's condition now. It's been more than a month since he was a madman." said Mrs. Ratna while walking with her friends
"Since his wife died, Mr. Hasyim has changed completely" Mrs. Hasna added
"Maybe this is what the old people called that true love that is carried to death sometimes results in mental and behavioral changes" said Mrs. Sinta who is a health worker at the health center
"The village head and some residents have also often persuaded Mr. Hasyim to be taken for treatment to Bogor city but the results are nil because Mr. Hasyim often suddenly goes berserk" said Mrs. Ratna
"hussssh it's not good to talk about people, especially Mr. Hasyim, one of our villagers who was previously known to be kind and generous to orphans. It's better if we just pray that Mr. Hasyim will recover quickly" said Mrs. Dini wisely
That's what the village mothers talked about after returning from a meeting at the sub-district office.
It's not just the little children who feel afraid when they meet or just pass in front of Mr. Hasyim's house, Asri, a girl, also began to feel afraid and uncomfortable since Asri accidentally met him in the middle of the road in the morning on her way to or from the toy store.
Once upon a time, on a Friday night, when the residents were already sleeping, only a few young villagers were left guarding the guard post. Asri happened to get a job at the toy store in the afternoon and usually went home at midnight.
Asri went home from work on foot because she wanted to save money and the distance was not too far from her house. That night was very quiet, the sound of frogs and several insects could be heard very clearly and formed a sound that almost scared Asri. To eliminate negative suggestions, Asri walked alone while listening to songs using a headset.
To reach her house, there were two choices of roads that Asri had to choose. a road that was very close but had to go through a bamboo forest and a small river or through a regular road but had to go through Mr. Hasyim's yard. because Asri is very afraid of ghosts, Asri prefers to go home through Mr. Hasyim's yard.
Asri walked a little nervously as she began to approach Mr. Hasyim's yard which was full of trash from noodle and drink wrappers.
"Hopefully tonight he's fast asleep" Asri said to herself with full hope
but Asri's hopes were the opposite, Mr. Hasyim who Asri had hoped was fast asleep because it was already midnight was actually in his yard pacing back and forth, holding a broom while singing incoherently.
finding that, Asri stopped for a moment, took a breath and walked very slowly. but suddenly Asri screamed after suddenly Mr. Hastim laughed very loudly. Asri was shocked to death and then ran very fast so that her headset came off.
Asri bravely ran through Mr. Hasyim's yard and when approaching the guard post, Asri stumbled and fell bam! Seeing the incident, several young men who were hanging out on guard at the night guard post immediately approached Asri.
"What's wrong with you, Asri?" asked a young man named Randi, "were you chased by a ghost or saw something scary?"
Asri answered with still out of breath, "No, I was just shocked. I thought Mr. Hasyim was screaming and chasing me."
"I thought there was a ghost or a thief, but it turned out to be Mr. Hasyim. Later, if you meet Mr. Hasyim again, just walk calmly. Even though Mr. Hasyim is like that, he won't hurt you. Now that you're safe, you should go home and rest." said Randi.
