The young girl had been feeling lonely lately. Although her lips were often silent, her mind was always busy. She preferred silence to noise. The young girl's name was Nuri. Her face was fair with pink on both sides of her cheeks. Nuri was known by many, especially her friends, as a kind and quiet girl. She was the type of girl who preferred pouring out her heart and thoughts through her diary rather than on social media.
One day, Nuri woke up to sunlight shining through her bedroom window, which had been open for some time. For a moment, she just stared blankly at the ceiling. Her eyes were still puffy and slightly red, the remnants of crying the night before.
Then, Nuri woke up and sat on the edge of her small bed. Nuri looked around the room, and suddenly, the sound of breaking glass was heard outside.
Nuri covered her ears tightly with her index fingers, refusing to hear anything. A single clear tear rolled down her cheek. Her face was buried in the pillow, still wet with tears. She felt like she couldn't live in this situation any longer. She couldn't bear to live in this cycle of sadness that was driving her to madness.
With a sad feeling, Nuri walked slowly out of the house, among the deserted streets, her head lowered as if ashamed for the world to see. She stared at her black silhouette among the shadows of the trees and houses. Nuri stopped when someone blocked her shadow.
"I have something to tell you." The person began to speak to her.
Nuri turned. The face felt familiar.
"Why?" Sinta asked with a straight face, but Nuri remained silent. "WHY DID YOU HAVE TO BE BORN IN THIS WORLD?!" Sinta began to shout.
Sita brought her palm to Nuri's cheek. "GO AWAY!"
Nuri couldn't look at her interlocutor. She simply held her cheek, which was stinging from the slap. "Disappear from this world, you destroyer of families!" Sinta snapped.
Nuri sobbed as the girl's screams echoed in her ear. A clear teardrop dripped down the corner of her face.
Nuri was an ordinary girl who lived with the unwavering love of her parents. She lived a life of abundance, even more. At first, she thought her life was perfect. But it turned out, it was all a lie. Her father, it turned out, was a married man. It was then that she realized her mother was his second wife.
Her family was unwanted by everyone. Her mother was considered a woman without self-respect. No one wanted to share their breath or space with Nuri's family. They never wanted to know the extent of the mental damage inflicted on those they scorned.
Nuri's father's first wife turned out to be her mother's close friend. Close friends who had made a promise to each other since they were in school not to betray each other. When her father's first wife learned what had happened, she was understandably shocked. The husband she loved had turned away from her. The friend she trusted most had betrayed her at the same time.
Sinta, the daughter of her father's first wife, couldn't believe it. She nearly fainted when her father revealed the truth himself. Then, terror began to come as a sign of revenge. From the broken windows to the flames pelting her house.
“Nuri?” Nuri’s thoughts were interrupted. The girl remained silent, staring blankly. “Nuri? Honey, are you in there?” The call didn’t move Nuri from her comfortable position. Then, a dull knock began to sound from behind the door.
“Nuri, open the door, honey. I want to talk to you about our move,” her mother said.
Indeed, her family was planning to move. Moving to a faraway place to bury the darkness of the past and move on. But for her, moving house was merely a form of escape. Her body would no longer be abused. However, her soul and mind had become entwined with the long-standing frustration Nuri had suffered all this time. She still wouldn’t live in peace like before.
Nuri remained unmoved. In her confused mind, she remembered Sinta. That girl wanted her to disappear from this world. She wanted Nuri to perish. Nuri knew what that meant.
Nuri stared at her stiff body, drenched in tears and regret from her father and mother. She was stunned and remembered what had happened so quickly.
Initially, she had intended to sever the vein in her left hand with her favorite green scissors. Initially, she didn't want to see her parents crying so hard while hugging her. Initially, she wanted to feel the pain that wracked her soul for a moment longer. However, as she closed her eyes and braced herself for the risks of her actions, a beam of white light shone upon her.
For a moment, she thought the light was just a flash of fantasy after she had successfully died. Then Nuri knew, her death would bring about a change in everything for the better. This was what everyone wanted.
Nuri smiled. She didn't feel the slightest bit of sadness. She only felt the echo of freedom and peace buzzing in her mind. Now, she no longer had to endure various forms of mental abuse from those around her. She was free and living in the peace she longed for.
Nuri closed her eyes, feeling all the sensations and peaceful pleasures flowing through her body. The rays of light returned and illuminated her body, guiding the little girl to another dimension. A dimension that would lead her to eternity.
