"Please open the door, I have got a visitor that just arrived this night from a journey and I am out of bread to offer to him. I want to know if I can get assistance from you.?"
Mr Mike knocked on a friend who is also a neighbour of his.
But he was shocked at the response gotten from his neighbour who is on the other side of the door.
" Please go away it's late already, my door is closed and my family is fast asleep so I can not get to the door now"
What kind of friend is this that will not help a friend when he is in need? Mr Mike spoke to himself as he walked away.
Is this how effective a doorway can be when it comes to stuff like this? He could just open the door and give me what I needed without stating some unimportant issues to back up his will not to give out.
Mr Bright has always been a generous person, but this is what I don't understand.
Mr Mike walked home surprised and confused at the same time. Why did he not open the door? What am I going to offer to my visitor? All these rans through Mr Mike's mind as he walked slowly back home.
The power of a doorway.
Mike managed to give the little he had that night to his visitor.
5 Months later Mr Mike who is one of the administrators in a tertiary institution got a slot to refer 5 students who will be offered admission into the school on scholarship.
Mr Mike already referred 4 and it's only 1 student.
Mr Bright whose child happens to apply for the scholarship also needs a referral but couldn't get any. The only hope happens to be their neighbour Mr Mike but he has refused to even associate with them as he sees Mr Bright as a friend who is not worth to be called a friend.
How do I approach Mr Mike to plead for my child so he can refer her for the scholarship?
Mr Bright visited Mr Mike's house on several occasions but could not find him at home.
So he decided to come at night when he is certain he will meet Mr Mine at home but the outcome was shocking.
A knock on Mr Mike's door.
Mr Mike; " who is there?"
"It's me Mr Bright please I want to ask for a favour from you concerning my daughter. She applied for the scholarship in your school and all we need now is a referral and information that you still have one slot. I want to know if I can pay for that slot so that my child will be a part of the scholarship. "
Mr Mike has waited for this opportunity for a very long time.
"Sorry, the door is locked and my family is fast asleep. Sorry I can not get to the door now. You would have gotten it even for free but the door will not warrant that f9r now, so please walk away." Mr Mike replied.
Can a door be a barrier to someone's future? Mr Bright asked himself as he walked down to his house even with his money he was about to experience the worst he could ever think of that an ordinary door would hinder his daughter from getting the scholarship.
How far is it from her? Just on the other side of the door.
Doors are very powerful, it either gives passage, and access or hinders whatever is supposed to happen.
Be careful so you don't lock your destiny on the other side of the door.
