It was a hot afternoon, the air conditioner was on and Inspector Annie was sitting comfortably in her office with different thoughts running through her mind. Just when she felt she could return to her case file, her phone rang with Isiah boldly displayed on the phone screen. She knew the call was nothing but going to be the young man professing his love to her as usual even when she is not ready for a relationship. She ignored it but Isiah persisted, taking a long breath, she pressed the receive button.
"Hi Isiah, Whatsapp I'm at work. Talk to you later." She said rushing to get him off the phone as fast as she could.
"I know my last time trying to profess my love landed me on your bad side."
"That's the problem I have with you Isiah, this is my office line and I don't talk about personal matters during work. Try to learn business ethics. Goodbye."
She sighed. This has happened a couple of times. Isaih will disturb her office line telling her how much he loves her. Annie's clear message she is not interested in any relationship with anyone wasn't heard by Isiah. Who kept being persuasive and unrelenting which made Annie see him to be aggressive and adamant to other's decisions.

"Wait! Please wait... I called for another reason. I need your help. My niece, Mirabel had gone missing after school and I have been searching. The school administrator confirmed she left school with her mates."
"Let's see in the office tomorrow on this regard." She said and ended the call.
It was the next day and Isiah went to Inspector Annie's office as instructed. She got the necessary information about Mirabel and the search began. Posters were put up, television and radio announcements were made on a missing school girl.
Even with the police involvement in the search, days passed, weeks passed and hopes of finding her began declining. Annie refused to lose hope on finding Mirabel. "It is my job to find her, don't lose hope. I will do my best to make sure she's found. '' After this promise, many other police in other divisions were involved.
They kept making the announcement using the media along with driving round and searching everywhere if they would see the girl.
When the little girl's mother heard the news, her world was crumbled. She went into prayers with strong hope she would be found. Not minding her location, she transported herself down to the city and joined in search for her daughter.
Months passed with one positive news. One day, Someone called Annie's office line but no one was available to receive it. After numerous dials with no one receiving, the caller stopped. Getting back from the search to the office, she saw tons of missed calls from an unknown contact.
She called multiple times but one one picked up but she kept on calling and finally a female voice spoke.
"Hello, my name is Nancy. I found a girl in an abandoned bungalow near market road."
Immediately, Annie called Isiah and other officers. They arrived at the described location.
"What is your name?" Inspector Annie who arrived the place first asked.
The girl remained mute as tears streamed down her cheeks. Immediately, Isiah ran towards and saw Mirabel, her niece and his joy grew. He embraced her and asked her what happened. She narrated how a man offered to rid her home on her way heading home from school.
"He had kept me in the house far away and I didn't know what to do. While he went into the shower, he forgot to lock them down and I ran because I heard him one day calling someone that he will soon bring me for the sacrifice."
"You are safe now. It's so brave of you." Annie said.
Isiah and Mirabel's mother were happy and from that day on Isiah began going to pick Mirabel after school hours. Annie was happy and at the same time grateful that Isiah placed the phone call that made her proud of herself.
