Growing up James always had a connection with water, he found peace in it.
He spent a lot of time sitting at the bank of the lake close to his home.
James always felt like he had an unbreakable link with water.
He had no arms so it was impossible for him to swim, at least in a safe way. He lived with this affliction all his life. But deep down he felt his gift of hands where in the water.
He always felt like it was holding him, whispering in low tones to let it into him, telling him every problem in the world will fade away.
But then there was this thing in his head, raging and lightening every nerve with anger and madness, a persistent feeling to keep on fighting to survive.
A persistent question lingered in his head,
"HAVE I HAD ENOUGH OF LIFE?". He just felt incomplete without water. Now 25 years of age he had never dived into a pool or stream before.
James always felt left out and isolated from his pairs, not just because of the fact that he had no arms, he just felt that not everyone had to live the way he did. But yet he was special.
One evening he went to his usual spot beside the river Bank, deep in his thoughts he kept on thinking of a gift of a better life.
Then all of a sudden he heard a little voice in his head " I would gift you hands but only if you let me in, let all your fears go and come to me". It was a strange statement but he knew exactly what it meant.
Out of fear, James stopped visiting his usual spot, he Couldn't imagine obeying the words he heard the last time he visited.
As time went on James's attraction to water increased profoundly, he kept on having dreams where he saw himself swimming freely with new and strong hands.
Two weeks had passed and the urge to swim grew stronger. He made up his mind, it was either time to live or die.
He got to the river Bank deep in the night around midnight. He got all his cloths off and made his way to the tip of the river, standing at the tip, water grazed his legs in a way he had never felt before, he felt its calming touch for the first time in his life.
Courageously he kept on walking deeper and deeper into the river, when his head was fully immersed in the water, he could see a bright light coming from the river bed, it looked like a package, he just had to reach in a little bit to see what it was.
After several efforts he finally got to it, he pulled it out of the river where he sat and examined the package, it was wrapped beautifully like a birthday or Christmas present, he opened it and what he saw made him laugh, it looked like toy arms. "Was this a joke or something" He thought.
He poked it with his legs and that's when the magic happened, he felt energy flow through his body, sparks of electricity emerged from his arms, they where growing.
When the whole process was over, he felt like a new being, rejuvenated. Now he could swim forever.
James's story was one of opposites, his greatest fear was his breakthrough.
THE END..........
