Rosana runs an event planning agency where she does great work and patronage becomes better overtime. She is the best event planner in town. Talk of any society wedding in town, you can't have it except Rosana plans it.
Her class of friends is the self-acclaimed independent women and Rosana's mother had embattled her to stay clear from them because none of them are married at their age. They are all in their early thirties.
Mama, as Rosana fondly called her mother, would pray serious prayers mentioning Rosana's name for divine connection to a man that would become her husband. In her own time, a lady should be enthusiastic to get married at the age of twenty-three, and here they are, not bothered about their unmarried status.
Her boyfriend of the past eight years had kept promising to propose to her soonest. The promise had turned sour to Rosana. She loves Chidi and would wait till he is ready but Mama continuous murmuring is a pain in the neck for her.
One of Rosana's friends, Doris, had linked her up to a couple who intended to have their wedding planned by a good event planner. Doris gave Olu and Bola Rosana's contact and a meeting was fixed.
When they met, Bola just naturally did not like the face of Rosana. She looks more beautiful than her and that intimidates her. Every menu she presented would never work for Bola.
Olu, while watching both ladies dig out what colour or fittings matches, noticed that Bola does not seem to like the personality of Rosana. This got him so infuriated. But he tried to stay calm. And asked that they fix another meeting for her to cool something for their reception.
That evening, the girls decided to hang out to share their experience for the day in their usual hang out.
Doris started by saying how she met a handsome dude at the mall. She wanted to see how handsome the guy looked. Just as she thought to get a close glimpse of the dude, he winked at her. That looks like a hope to get wooed. A pregnant lady emerged from the scene. She is the wife of the handsome dude and Doris had to walk away. What a day!!
Bimpe narrated how her boss, married with kids had been hitting on her and how she is getting frustrated and doesn't know what to do. Some married men wouldn't just face their wives, they would want to get some romance from a side chick who in turn wants marriage but not to a man who is already married.
Rosan watched as the ladies shared their experiences. Her day had been hell and Bola entered a competition of choice with her and whatnot.
On the day of the next meeting, Rosana dressed corporately to meet with Olu and Bola at Olu's place. She had planned a beautiful reception this time and hoped it met with the desires of Bola.
The discussions rarely started when Bola started showing her dislikes for the designs that Rosana brought. At that instance, Olu took the stage and said to Bola to be calm that Rosana's advice is professional and that it should be accepted.
It is my wedding. Whatever I want is what you'd do!!
Bola shouted at the top of her voice.
It is not your wedding, it's our wedding and we are going to reason together.
Olu snapped back at Bola.
They shouted at each other while Rosana looked on. It was meant to be her big event for the year but she couldn't stand the argument of these two. She had to walk away to the pub to take some alcohol off all this pressure.
Rosana quickly left for her date with Chidi. He was going to propose today and Rosana was quite expectant. When he got to the restaurant where they were to meet.
Chidi suits up with a cool eye glass to match. They had some chit chat and then, Chidi made it for his pocket. This got Rosana excited.
He fixed the ring into her hand without saying the usual.
Will you marry me?
She is expecting him to say it. Chidi looked into her eyes and said:
This ring is a promise ring. Very soon you will get the real engagement ring.
The frustrated Rosana got angry, stood up and poured the drink in her Tumblr on Chidi.
You want me to wait again, after eight years of waiting for you.
Rosana couldn't just bear it. It's been.from one frustration to another today. She just walked away and never looked back. She went to her usual hang out.
The waiter walked up to Rosana and took her demand. A bottle of Heineken beer. She poured two tumblers and gulped the content with two sips.
Olu had angrily left home with the unbecoming attitude of Bola. He went straight to the pub only to see Rosana drinking to stupor.
In the bid to help out, to stop Rosana from drinking, he saw how beautiful and good-hearted she was.
How could she suffer such faith because of his nagging fiance? Olu had to stop Rosana from taking more beer and took her home.
Bola waited at home for Olu but he never came home until the next afternoon. When he eventually came home he called it quits with Bola.
Eventually, Olu and Rosana got married.
