When we feel happy there is an outburst of serotonin in our brains, we forget all our other emotions and drown in that one feeling of warmth and joy. It's our body's way to let go and enjoy the moment. To feel happiness in itself is a privilege that the creator had given us to make it through this cruel world. But the world as we know it has been polluted by the activities of us humans and so slowly the human brain has lost its sensation to feel happiness. But the brains of humans have also created an alternative to feel happiness but at a cost. Serotonin had now been made into a single pill that lasts for 30 minutes, it could make you feel all that joy in 30 minutes. But the world in itself is a corrupt place, therefore the masses that have access to this magic pill are the rich that can spend their money literally on their happiness. Leaving the poor masses to be as empty vessels walking the earth, imagine not being able to feel happy.
Jimmy was born after the world was left without happiness, during his birth he gave his first cry. His mother was excited to finally bring him into the world but she could express that emotion, she just laid there as the midwife handed over her son and she stared at him with blank eyes. Growing up, Jimmy had to learn to live in the world he found around him. Without the feeling of the most important emotion, every other emotion seemed to be heightened. Humans seemed to be doing drastic things just to be able to feel happiness. There was the latest news of a man that overdosed on serotonin and went into cardiac arrest. He died of happiness because he was rich and he could get his hands on as many pills as possible.
Jimmy watched the news, angry at the world; he couldn't feel emotion just because he didn’t have money to buy a pill. He couldn't stand there and watch the news so he went out to drive his bike to clear his mind. He ended up at a diner just near his house, he was fascinated by a young lady that led a protest against Lumen (The company that created the pill), they all held posters saying that the pill should be free for everybody.
He entered the diner, sat down at the bar and sipped his drink as the young lady came to the counter and ordered. Jimmy said,"You guys really have something going on there huh", she looked at him as she said,"A change is coming". Jimmy laughed as he said,"We pray it comes soon than later". He extended his hand for a handshake as he introduced himself and invited her to sit down for a chat. They seemed to have a lot in common and they both shared a certain hatred for Lumen. "Have you ever been happy"Jimmy asked Amy. She waited for a while before answering, then said,"On my sixteenth birthday, my mother bought me a pill". "Tell me what it feel like."Jimmy asked with excitement in his eyes. Amy said,"My heart rate increased and I couldn't stop smiling for 30 minutes straight, It was the best feeling in the world". Jimmy said,"I have never felt happy, I would do anything to feel what you felt". Amy bite her lip as she said,"Would you do anything?". Jimmy repiled ,"Anything". She put her hand in her bag and brought out a birthday card with a drawing on the back, she said,"This is a map of the Lumen warehouse where the pill is made"." I am planning a raid and because I like you, you can be a part of it", she concluded.
Jimmy thought about the repercussions of what he was about to do, he stood in front of the Lumen building shaking and taking deep breaths. He felt somebody take his hand and lead him up the stairs of the building, it was Amy as he saw her all the fear left his body.
They managed to sneak in the building and into the tableting room, as Amy touched a pill the alarms in the building started to ring. The building was immediately surrounded by police officers, they had to run to the top of the building because they had been surrounded. She stared at Jimmy and put a pill in his mouth and drew him closer as she planted a kiss on his lips. Jimmy stood there as he felt all the emotions of happiness and love all at once, it was so beautiful. He gave everything just to be in this moment.
If it makes you happy, make it your priority
THE END.
