I like it when the sheets are freshly washed, they feel like a cloud, when I sleep it's like I'm floating,
but I have to get up now, I have to go to college.
"Mike don't you go to college boy? You need to be more responsible!"
"Si mama, ya estoy despierto tranquila", Mike gets up and opens the door to his room and Luna is the first to greet him, wagging her tail like a whip, "hello, how are you, beautiful?".
"I see you got attached to her, huh?" says Mike's mother.
"It's impossible not to fall in love with that little face", he said looking into Luna's eyes.
Mike had some time with Luna at home, three years earlier he lived in an apartment with his mother, his father lived in another city because he worked, Mike made his life a routine.
School in the mornings, swimming practice in the afternoons and coming home at night to do what was left of his daily homework.
Only occasionally did he visit his father or go out with friends.
However, that changed when she had to move with her father to another city.
She had to leave everything and start all over again because her father was transferred, she was heartbroken but looked forward,
He moved into a big house with a nice garden and two floors, only the pool was missing. A few months passed
He didn't like this new environment, a city where he had no one to hang out with and no trusted friends.
One day his usual walk home brought him a surprise, across the street he saw a girl crying. Mike
crossed the street immediately.
"What do you have?" she asked alertly.
"Nothing," said the girl tearfully, sitting on the sidewalk in a fetal position, "I just don't know where to leave her or who to give her to."
Mike watched a puppy sheltering from the cold in his arms, "my parents won't let me keep her at home," he thought about helping by temporarily adopting the little puppy, he also thought it might be a bad idea.
"Give it to me, I'll get it a home," however, she didn't hesitate and took the puppy.
"Do you really want it?" the girl asked questioningly.
"Yes, I can give him affection until I get him a better home."
Mike said goodbye to the girl, who thanked him enthusiastically. He continued on his way home thinking about what his parents would say,
He tiptoed into the house, not letting anyone see him, his father at work and his mother in the shower, the perfect time to enter his room without suspicion.
Until then he hadn't felt the need to be stealthy, so he didn't notice the sound of the door hinges.
"Mike! Are you home?" his mother shouted.
"Yes mom, I'm in my room".
"It's okay, I thought it might be your father, he's been working a lot lately," his mother headed to his room and walked in.
"Yeah I know, he's barely home, I don't know why we moved," said Mike sitting on the floor a little homesick.
"What's that you've got there," Mike had the puppy on his lap.
"I'm starting to think we need some company, don't you think?
"No problem for me, what name can you give it?".
"Mmm, I don't know."
"How about Luna?"
"Yeah, that's fine with me."
In that moment of acceptance the negativity vanished, her life was covered with sweetness and fun, playing and running, little by little he grew fond of her, because it gave him a reason to come home with enthusiasm.
Her father in the end had no objection to staying with Luna.
In his life that turned bleak, Luna gave light to Mike.
