A promise of presence matters a lot and should never be broken.
The loneliness of old age is the hardest battle of life and most likely we all have to go through that phase of life, when we wish there is someone to look after us. As we get older, health issues crop up, causing anxiety and fear enter our minds and that is when we realize the value of having someone, who can provide a safe place, to turn our fears into security and worries into peace. The Promise of "Whenever" is not just about being there during major emergencies, but to prioritize and be present on every small occasion in regular intervals, a powerful conviction that every children should have - the emotional foundation necessary for our Parents to feel safe, loved, and confident. They have been our guiding light when we were learning to navigate life and now is our turn to be their anchor - to cherish their love and return it with the same, unconditional devotion they showed us.
As we navigate the bustling, fast-paced world of our lives managing our own mountains of responsibility, it is incredibly easy to let time slip through our fingers and forget about them, but I have made it an habit of watching them live every moment, every day and monitor their activities to let them know that they are not alone. And a frequent physical visit always feels overwhelming and that's the reason I do visit them as much as I can. We can never repay the debt of their sacrifice, nor can we truly pay back the years they invested in us, but offering our time is perhaps the greatest asset (that money cannot buy) that we can promise, honoring their journey and ensuring they feel worthy, loved, and never abandoned in this old age. Last two months have been very hectic as the kid was preparing for the exam and we did not want to disturb him for anything. That's the reason, I have not been able to stay for longer duration, and finally time has come to visit them again and spend some quality time with them - listen to their stories with patience and love.
And there are some sweet rewards always - do you see that in the CCTV Footage ? We have lot of mangoes this year, and I have already ordered few tools to help us pluck, more to come on that.....
