Good day everyone, I am so happy to share my first story in this community, I hope you enjoy it.
A young boy of about 7 years lived very close to the ocean with his parents. His father was a skillful fisherman who loved to sail the seas. Dubby shared the same dream, he imagined himself sailing the seas with a boat he made with his own hands. Dubby constantly told his father about his dream to own his own boat, but his father laughed at the idea. "It's not possible my son, I have tried to build my own boat all my life but it is just too difficult, it would need too much timber, equipment and a lot of money which we don't have", he had said. " But if we own our own boat, we would be able to save a lot of money instead of renting", Dubby replied.
Life went by peacefully, as Dubby grew, he realized how unfeasible his plan was but he never gave up on his dream. When he was about 16 years, his father was convinced enough for him to accompany him on fishing expeditions. Expeditions that took days in the open sea. On one beautiful morning, Dubby and his father set sail for a deep part of the ocean where a lot of tilapia fishes were known to nest. They got there at just about the right time, and Dubby helped his father cast the nets properly. When they were done they sat in the boat, roasting some fishes they brought along with them. Suddenly something big, a very big fish hit the boat, shaking it so much, Dubby and his father almost lost balance. They both immediately ran to pull the nets out of the water, they pulled and pulled but it seemed what they caught was stronger than both of them. They kept trying till Dubby's father mistakenly tripped and fell into the water. Without any hesitation Dubby dived in to help his old man. He struggled and struggled to free his father but his legs were caught up in the nets, and the creature they had caught kept pulling the net deep into the ocean. With the fear of losing his father in his heart Dubby kept on fighting, but they kept on going deeper. His father was already out of breath when Dubby saw something very close to the sea bed. It looked strange but it shined so bright. At that moment his father's leg got loose from the net, he was able to pull him back up to the surface and back into the boat, where he successfully revived him. They set sail back home immediately without even going back for their nets.
When they got home, Dubby narrated everything that happened to his mother who was so scared and grateful to him for saving his father. That night when they ate at the dining table , Dubby remembered how they had left their nets and he felt so bad. He Knew his father would be heartbroken when he found out.
That night when he slept he had a dream. In the dream he was on a boat and a rope was tied to his hands, he dived into the ocean as the rope pulled him deeper into the ocean, he could see that he was tied to a large fish, one the size of a whale, and it kept pulling him under. When they got to the bottom he saw a very beautiful boat, with its name written on its body " Cyrinne". Dubby immediately woke up from his sleep. That was when he realized he had to go back for the nets.
He snuck out of the house at about midnight and set sail for the same spot he and his father had visited earlier. When he got there, he dived into the water and made his way to the bottom. As he kept getting closer he could see the light he saw earlier that day. And behold there it was Cyrinne the beautiful boat he saw in his dreams. At first he was scared but the closer he got the more he fell in love with it. He finally got to it and the moment he touched it, it was as if it came to life, pulling itself and Dubby back to the surface.
He sailed like a king, back to the beach. And back to his parents.
The End…
