As children we always have a dream of becoming responsible in the future. When i was a child i have always told my friends, family, neighbors and teacher my plans of becoming a journalist. It sounds so good telling people how my carrier will look good on me. My parents were never against my career when i was a kid. Ada has the intention of becoming a doctor while Jennifer our other friend, her's was becoming a lawyer. Ada will always say happily "I would love to save life save people when I become a doctor" and Jennifer will say excitedly " I will defend people I will speak for the voiceless and give justice to those who deserves Justice" and we will all smile and I will tell them mine "i will write articles to educate people who are ignorant about many things".
As we grow older, getting to secondary School Ada was in science class while Jennifer and I were in art class. when I was about going to art class my parents where against me because all my siblings, that is, my elder ones were already in art class, it was really a tough time for me that period, at this moment they wanted to make a choice of career for me. My mom will say " my daughter please go to science class, we need a medical student in our family, we need one science student who will become a doctor or pharmacist" she will always use the pharmacist neighbor as an example "don't you see he's making money and it is very easy for medical practitioners to get employed" i won't say a word, I will always be angry. The pressure from my parents was becoming too much i had to discuss it with my elder brother and he said calmly "my dear don't let anyone choose your career for you, follow your heart" i thanked him for his word and I had to follow my choice of career.
Immediately after our secondary School Jennifer lost her father and she had no order option than drop what ever that concerns education aside and focus on how to tak care of her younger siblings. The day i visited her she sobber and said pitiful as tears roll down her eyes "am i a fool for dreaming", I don't expect my dream end this way" i was consoling her i said to her " this is not the end of life, when there's life there's hope" i encouraged. Jennifer in tears as she replied "you don't understand i have to Carta for my younger ones and my sick mother". At this point I was mute i had nothing to say.
While Immediately after a secondary school Ada had to travel out of the country to study medicine in the UK and we lost contact we stop communicating and there was no way to reach her. A year after I got admission into the university to study mass communication my dream of becoming a journalist is becoming real and Ada as well. Only Jenifer was exempted which always makes me feel bad.
While I was in school I heard about an NGO offering scholarships to students who are not capable of paying their fees and immediately I called Jennifer, she was a bit skeptical about it but I had to encourage her to give it a try since she's not the one paying for the fees and she apply for the scholarship, immediately she gave a try , she got the scholarship and was admitted into the university to study law and her siblings where a bit grown enough to take good care of their selves and their mother.
Though it has never been easy for Jennifer in the university because she needed money for handout and other expenses. Jennifer have to work while going to school, in order to support herself and also supporting her younger ones so that they can add up to the one they have. Sometimes i do give her some money out of my pocket money, despite the fact we attend different institution. "Why are you doing this? We all are students"Jennifer will say to me "this is the little i can do as a friend I'm glad that i could help" i replied smilng. Jennifer exclaimed " hmmmm! thank you my friend". Then she hug me.
How happy I was to see all our dreams come true, in life. After some years back i got a job with Daily trust newspaper, while barrister Jenifer work in the court and Ada came back to the country as a professional doctor, and was already working abroad, we were all happy reuniting as friends and having all our dreams as gold in our hands.
