We accept two kinds of short stories in The Ink Well: fictional stories and creative nonfiction stories. We are all about quality, and we expect writers to carefully review their work before posting. Not doing so will result in low curation rewards or posts being ignored. You can see our article on checking your posts for grammar here.

The Ink Well is primarily a community focused on short story fiction. This submission unfortunately does not fit into either category of writing accepted by The Ink Well, although it may well fit perfectly within the remit of other communities. It is also on the short side and we find that most pieces under 750 words are underdeveloped.

And please be sure to engage in the community by reading and commenting on the work of other community members. We ask everyone who posts in The Ink Well to read and comment on at least two other stories for each one published.

We note that you have not supported any of writers in the community. We only curate those who write within the parameters of our community rules and guidelines and who support their fellow writers.

We note that you have used AI previously on Hive to generate posts. Please note that this practice is not acceptable to The Ink Well. This includes using AI editors to rephrase/rewrite drafts or to rearrange sentences or substitute phrases.

**We expect our writers to submit quality pieces and this means at the very least that they have edited their work before submission to identify and correct for basic spelling errors, grammar, and punctuation.
