I watched as the small group wandered off some more into the distance before I walked towards the trees on the opposite horizon. I could see a larger estate there and the trees hinted perhaps at a creek making its way across these beautiful lands.........

As I walked closer I could feel the heat fading as trees and shrubs took away the sun's hot rays. The ground became speckled with dots of sun and and shade and they crawled up onto the barks of the trees and onto my face and body. The air was almost cool here and I could feel that some water was nearby. Just as soon as I had finished this thought I could hear a lovely tune emanating from somewhere in front of me. A white dress, not dissimilar to the one I had previously seen, embellished a woman's body who was singing this dreamy melody. It looked so foreign and out of place here in its green and natural surrounding that I had to make sure that it was real by looking more closely. The woman was wearing a round hat and a red ribbon decorated it. Quietly I was watching, mesmerized by this scene.

Next to her was that river that I had been expecting and its water moved very gently through the forest here. Undisturbed, but for the occasional water jumpers, one could see one's reflection, only slightly deformed and stretched as it was pulled along downstream. The woman had not noticed me and I wondered whether I should make myself noticeable by waving at her.

She was still singing and I thought that I would interrupt her being, so I decided to stay quiet and only observe; the speckles of light and shadow also dotted her being and they played on her dress hide and seek. Her arms swayed slightly in the air and just as freely her head moved with her melody, her feet suspended yet moving.

I wondered how it must be to live here next to this slow flowing river which emitted this presence and abundance. How it must feel to catch the fish and feel at home here. To feel tuned into nature and to be at peace.
