“Anything else?” Rose asked after hugging Jack to which he nodded in nary because ostensibly he had a smile on his face but deep down he was broken.
“Ok bye, then” Rose turned towards the chariot waiting for her.
The chariot might have distanced a few meters only, when it stopped, beating the heart of Jack who was waving his hand goodbye. This sudden break for a moment constructed a bubble of false hope that Rose might change her mind to go but this bubble didn’t last long when she came nearer and said,” Jack, I forgot, I had something of you, let me return you”
Jack inquired “What is it ?” And she extracted his hand watch from her bag and handed it over to her. She returned her even the last belongings of him which Jack thought that she was taking with his will but it was a mistake which she rectified. Jack was just thinking this when she again rode on her chariot by waving a hand and saying “Goodbye”.
Within that moment, Jack reminisced all the memories that they both cherished in the last four years. Their bond invigorated with each passing day and they came close to each other under the disguise of “friendship” which was not the only bond in the case of Jack. Jack couldn’t express but he always possessed very pure and special feelings for her.
Their bond started 4 years ago when they met for the first time at a symposium. Jack was indigenous but Rose came there for studies. She was all alone and Jack proved to be her biggest support and heartiest soulmate. From dawn to dusk, they used to remain together. They had fights, disputes, and differences but nothing contributed to their disdain for each other.
Rose was a talkative girl. And Jack was fond of her blather. Their daily routine was completing tasks together, gossiping, and enjoying each other's company. These 4 years were the most beautiful of Jack’s life. She was his most valuable asset in which he invested his time, emotions, and feelings. People had grudged from their bond but they didn’t care. Jack rejected myriad girls just because of Rose. Some were said “No “ by Jack while some could not tolerate the purity and strength of their bond and gave up.
All was good until Rose said to Jack that she was going to her homeland, to his parents, and his siblings. Jack didn’t take it seriously because he knew how important he was for her but …………….
“Are you serious, Rose? Why? Like, you didn’t express your desire to go so how?” Jack bleated.
“It was always destined to happen, Jack. This is not my home. My parents and my siblings are my priority. You worth a lot but nothing before them.” Rose said in a clear voice.
“Ok, I will come with you. I will also live in your homeland now as you did here.” Jack said
“Are you in your senses, Jack? What happened to you? Be sensible. Don’t exaggerate the matter. I will set on voyage after an hour and I am here to say you, Goodbye” Rose said
What could have Jack said after listening this? He was not in a position and condition to argue. He glanced with a fake smile on his face and said with an ostensible smile
“Will you go without hugging me?”
Listening to this Rose immediately rushed towards him and hugged him tightly.
“This is the last warmth of Rose that you are feeling Jack,” Jack said to himself. He didn’t want to detach from her neither in life nor from this hug but in life everything is not in our control.
The chariot was moving away and away. The tears that he had confined to his eyes were coming out slowly. The heart was oscillating with irregular cycles. He was having difficulty breathing due to silent sobbing. He was letting, a best friend , a compassionate partner and a pure love,go. But it was not in his hands . He could neither stop her nor stop loving her. All the dreams of him of enjoying life with her ,were shattering before his eyes. He never thought that the fragrance and beauty of the rose which he enjoyed and accompanied for four hours, would pierce his remaining life with thorns remaining behind. He will be left alone in the city where he cherished moments with her and was willing to make many thousands more
When the chariot finally dismissed out of his eyes all what he had were following lines with sobbing voice.
“If you could see, eyes longing for you
If you could hear, heart palpitating for you
If you could imagine, soul’s urge for you
If you could live ,those envisaged dreams for you
You would have stopped,
You must have stopped.”
