Welcome ~ witchcraft community of HIVE ~ to another week of mystical musings & enchanted thoughts. As my (two year) HIVE anivesary draws near, I have been appreciating this particular part of my writing schedule.
As I was scrolling through social media I saw a post of someone I have been following for years. She was sharing her advice from running and online witchy business for the past eight years.
Her advice centered around one concept:
To focus on what you're good at ... instead of trying to do it all.
After reflecting on her advice, I have determined that it is good. I wish I had known from the begining of my blogging adventures what subjects would yeild the most engagement from readers. The only way to find out is to experiment and, if you scroll through the backlog of all the articles I have shared here on HIVE you will see a lot of experimentation!
The same is true with the recent reboot of my online shop. While Calendula Craft as a blog focuses on digital information and earning digital currency, my other business is about selling a few physical items in my local country.
I think the two balance each other nicely and I consider them to be sister projects. They share so much in common, including a focus on witchery and the calendula flower.
Yesterday was a big for my candle making business. Out of the blue someone sent me a text message and made a bulk order of candles. While I have sold lots of packets at a craft faires, this is the first time a single person ordered so many candles at once! yay!
The end results of my two jobs is completely different. One is writing blog posts and filming videos. The other is creating candles. However, ideas for both are scribled in my notebook side by side. A video I made in Spanish for my candle products often inspires an article for my witchy blog posts.
In fact, that is the case with this very blog post today!
