I am a Hindu. It means I follow the Hindu religion and customs and culture.
So, why a community for Hindus?
I have noticed that many people are unaware of Hinduism. So, as a member of Hive, I wanted to start a community for Hindus. Those who are interested can join but please write posts here only about Hinduism.
I agree that it may limit the number of users who wish to join and write but increasing the number is not my intention at all. This community will have posts about the religious texts of the Hindus and stories for children based on the 'Puranas' and other Hindu scriptures.
This community is based on the Hive blockchain and so, it will be eternal as well. Therefore, people who are interested in knowing what Hinduism stands for can come across posts about the religion and also read more about it to dispel doubts or disbelief.
I agree that this is a bold move at a time when people are turning to be more materialistic and technical experts. The mobile is literally making every human a slave. I just wanted to start this community so that others can read more about how to free the mind from 'chains'.
A chain whether it is golden or iron is still a chain. Karma and the concept of Karma are often misunderstood.
Karma indicates action. Attaching oneself to the action causes bondage and expecting results causes the self to be chained to the effects of that action.
So, for example, a man, A does a good deed by distributing sweets to people in his village. A goes about saying that he has done a good thing. He is thus taking responsibility for that action of distributing sweets and he also expects others who received them to praise him before others and then he feels good about it.
Later on, the sweets that stay on the shelf of somebody's house turn bad after 3 days and someone eats them and becomes sick. Even though A may be unaware of what happened, karma chains him to the effect.
I know, it may seem too complex to understand sometimes but reading more about it will help you to understand better, the concept.
Who are the Hindus?
The follower of the Hindu religion is known as the Hindus.
The term Hindu was probably coined after someone discovered the people who stayed near the Indus river. Well, those facts are for the people interested in archeology.
Hinduism is a vast religion. I am not sure if Hinduism can be limited to the term 'religion'.
Hindus are often mocked for worshipping many gods but if you look closely, the gods are connected with nature and it shows how man is very close to nature and worshipped it from the very beginning. So, for a vast majority outside India or Bharat, the term Hinduism indicates a culture where people wear Saffron clothes and smear ash or wear bindis.
The culture of Bharat or India as it is known is vast and no one can even come close to understanding it even if years are spent studying it.
The language of the gods - Sanskrit
Sanskrit is still used by priests during ceremonies in Hindu houses and temples. It is still taught in many schools all over the country. So, if you get a chance to learn the basics, please do.
I do hope that this community can help to enlighten many on Hind culture and beliefs and also bring together people who follow this faith.
Hinduism is a way of life.
One of the most famous Slokas from the Bhagawat Gits is as follows:

There are various magazines like the chandamama for instance that try to publish stories from the Hindu scriptures and children get to read about the religion in words that they can understand easily.
Here is to hoping that this community will be well recieved. I seek the blessings of all.
