La industria de la moda es de las más contaminantes de todas. La producción de las prendas implican un duro golpe al medio ambiente, con el desperdicio de agua o incluso la liberación de gases como el metano en su proceso de descomposición que puede durar hasta 200 años.
Actualmente, muchas empresas son parte del fast fashion, para producir prendas de manera más rápida y en mayor cantidad para obtener más dinero, pero en el camino afectando a la mano de obra, personas que suelen ser explotadas, y al medio ambiente, ya que estas prendas, la mayoría de las veces, son de muy mala calidad y su tiempo de vida útil es bastante corto.
Además, por la cantidad de químicos usados pueden afectar nuestra piel generando alergias.
Como alternativa, ha surgido el slow fashion o moda sostenible, pero, ¿Qué es la Moda Sostenible?
Es aquella que aboga por la reducción de los recursos necesarios para la producción y la reutilización de los mismos en prendas de vestir y complementos que cumplan criterios de sostenibilidad ambiental (respetar el medio ambiente y el uso de materiales naturales u orgánicos). Es vestirse y consumir ropa con un intercambio más justo entre las partes implicadas en la producción.
La idea de la moda sostenible es que la ropa, o la moda, en general, tenga un proceso más cíclico, reutilizando prendas viejas, dándole nueva vida a esas telas o accesorios que ya no usamos...
Pero también ha surgido otra manera de sostenibilidad: textiles naturales o biodegradables. Hechos a base de recursos naturales de mayor calidad y muy beneficioso para el planeta y nuestra salud. Se pueden hacer textiles con fibra de piña o de setas, dando como resultado un cuero sintético amigable con el ecosistema, con la tela de arañas, con la fibra del platano...
Cuando leí eso quedé sorprendida. Es increíble lo que la naturaleza puede hacer por nosotros con ayuda de la tecnología.
Pero hoy, les hablaré del Orange Fiber. Un textil hecho con la fibra de naranja, similar a la seda. Fabricado por las italianas Adriana Santanocito y Enrica Arena. Quienes tenían como meta mejorar el proceso de producción de las prendas, reduciendo el impacto ambiental.
Para ellas la naranja era un excelente material para crear un textil ya que se aprovecha la cantidad de desechos de su fibra , mejorando la economía, mientras se fabricaba un textil muy amable con el medio ambiente y con nuestra piel, ya que algo super bueno de esta tela es que emite vitamina C en nuestra piel. ¿No les parece maravilloso?
Sé que estarán preguntándose el porqué estoy haciendo esta publicación, especialmente las fotos y su edición...
La razón es que la semana pasada aproximadamente, las chicas del Hive's Top Model nos pidieron hacer un maquillaje inspirado en recursos naturales. Yo tuve dos ideas. Una la ejecuté para el reto (me inspiré en el aire) y la otra no, pero me pareció igual de buena, así que hoy quise hacerle honor y hablarles un poco sobre la naranja y por qué me pareció maravilloso saber que existe un textil fabricado con su fibra.
Hice un maquillaje en tono naranja y amarillo, aunque el naranja no se aprecia mucho en mi piel. Y como accesorios usé unos zarcillos y una gargantilla realizados con la cáscara de la naranja, la cuál durante el proceso de tomarme las fotos noté que también lucía genial como brazalete... ¿No quedó genial? 😅
Para el peinado, esta vez quise hacer algo diferente y usé ligas para el cabello de color naranja y amarillo, para hacerme un pequeño recogido en el lado izquierdo de mi cabello. Y decoré con anillos dorados. Aunque siendo sincera, no me quedaron ganas de peinarme más con ligas porque me dolía el cuero cabelludo de lo apretadas que quedaron.De paso que tuve que usar tijeras para retirarlas. Amo mi cabello siendo libre 😅
A la hora de editar la foto me puse creativa porque el fondo de las fotos originales no era el mejor y en general las fotos sin edición no me gustaban mucho. Así que tomé mis apps de edición favoritas y me dediqué a hacer magia.
Finalmente, quiero decirles que sé que las prendas sostenibles suelen ser un poco más costosas, y no todos tenemos la disponibilidad económica para adquirirlas, pero hay otras maneras de aportar a la causa.
🍊 Tratar de comprar prendas de buena calidad. Es mejor enfocarse en la calidad antes que la cantidad. De nada sirve tener mucha ropa, si se te daña a los 3 meses. También sirve ser una cazadora de ofertas, obteniendo prendas de buena calidad a un precio más accesible.
🍊 Cuida tu ropa. Nada de mezclar la ropa blanca con la de colores, por ejemplo 😅 Lava a mano aquellas que son muy delicadas.
🍊 Dale una segunda oportunidad a esa ropa que ya no te gusta. Échales tijera, y cambia su forma. También puedes donarla.

But today, I will tell you about Orange Fiber. A textile made with orange fiber, similar to silk. Made by the Italian Adriana Santanocito and Enrica Arena. Their goal was to improve the production process of garments, reducing the environmental impact.
For them the orange was an excellent material to create a textile since it takes advantage of the amount of waste of its fiber, improving the economy, while making a very friendly textile with the environment and with our skin, since something super good about this fabric is that it emits vitamin C in our skin. Don't you think it's wonderful?
I know you're probably wondering why I'm doing this post, especially the photos and editing....
The reason is that in the past week or so, the girls from Hive's Top Model asked us to do a makeup inspired by natural resources. I had two ideas. One I executed for the challenge (I was inspired by the air) and the other I didn't, but I thought it was just as good, so today I wanted to honor it and tell you a little bit about the orange and why I thought it was wonderful to know that there is a textile made with its fiber.
I did an orange and yellow makeup, although the orange is not very noticeable on my skin. And as accessories I used some earrings and a choker made with the peel of the orange, which during the process of taking the pictures I noticed that it also looked great as a bracelet.... Didn't it look great? 😅
For the hairstyle, this time I wanted to do something different and I used orange and yellow hair ties to make a little updo on the left side of my hair. And I decorated with golden rings. Although to be honest, I didn't feel like doing my hair with rubber bands anymore because it hurt my scalp because they were so tight and I had to use scissors to remove them. I love my hair being free 😅
When it came time to edit the photo I got creative because the background of the original photos wasn't the best and in general I didn't like the photos without editing very much. So I grabbed my favorite editing apps and worked my magic.
Finally, I want to tell you that I know that sustainable garments are usually a bit more expensive, and not all of us have the economic availability to acquire them, but there are other ways to contribute to the cause.
🍊 Try to buy good quality clothes. It is better to focus on quality rather than quantity. It's no use having a lot of clothes, if they get damaged after 3 months. It also helps to be a bargain hunter, getting good quality clothes at a more affordable price.
🍊 Care for your clothes. No mixing white clothes with colored ones, for example 😅 Hand wash those that are very delicate.
🍊 Give a second chance to those clothes that you don't like anymore. Scissor them, and change their shape. You can also donate them.
