Hive’s Top Model reto: Makeup (naturaleza y vida)

Hola querida comunidad de Hive’s Red Carpet! Hoy les traigo mi entrada para el reto 2, sobre la temática Naturaleza y Vida.

Mi inspiración para este maquillaje fueron los volcanes y la lava, ya que siento que son bellos y caóticos al mismo tiempo, como la vida misma. Creo que la gran mayoría cuando piensa en volcanes, le viene a la mente destrucción o tragedia, dado que cuando estos erupcionan, realmente pueden ocasionar desgracias. Sin embargo, los volcanes aportan muchos beneficios a la Tierra: les dan fertilidad a los ecosistemas, generan energía geotérmica que sirve para obtener electricidad, funcionan también como respiraderos de la misma: se encargan de expulsar el calor, gases y muchos minerales; todo esto es vital para el continuo equilibrio y desarrollo del planeta.

Una de las razones por las cuales escogí este concepto, es porque considero que todos tenemos cualidades “volcánicas” dentro de nosotros. Como podemos dar beneficios a nuestra vida, también nos los podemos quitar con nuestros pensamientos y acciones, cuando estas son lideradas por la rabia, miedo, odio, frustración, envidia…

Por esta razón, mi maquillaje tiene dos lados: uno que refleja un lado más caótico, más intenso, como si tuviera lava corriendo por mi rostro, y el otro es más delicado, bonito, elegante. De esta forma es que quise representar la dualidad de un volcán.

Me realicé mi maquillaje en el estudio de tatuajes de un amigo, quién me lo prestó por 3 horas, y también se ofreció a documentar el paso a paso del maquillaje y mis fotos finales. He de confesar que sentía bastante presión por lograr este concepto en esa cantidad de horas ya que no soy la más experta, y además, no me sentía bien. Pero debía asumir el compromiso de estar allí y realizar el trabajo que debía hacer con la mejor actitud posible.
Llevar a cabo mi maquillaje duró casi las 3 horas, dejando como 20 minutos solamente para las fotos. Pero yo deseaba hacer realidad la idea que tenía en mente, que era hacer como un efecto en 3D en la parte de la lava y las rocas. Las rocas fueron realizadas con látex líquido que me regaló una amiga que lo había usado para Halloween, y me explicó cómo utilizarlo.

Al ser una sustancia que tarda un poco en secar, fue lo primero que me apliqué y pinté sobre ello. Luego procedí a pintar la lava con tinta para tatuajes (donada por mi amigo tatuador), dándole un efecto más intenso a los colores. Mientras se secaba la tinta, procedí a maquillar mi ojo en tonos amarillo y rojo muy oscuro, culminando con un delineado y unas piedritas color negro, acentuando el look oscuro y caótico que quería reflejar.

Después empecé con la parte “glam” del maquillaje. Preparé mi piel con mis bases, y luego empecé a difuminar el color naranja con el amarillo, para seguir jugando con las tonalidades de la lava.

Terminé con un delineado estilo “cat eye”, y unas piedritas en tono similar de las sombras para darle un poco más de brillo al look, ya que las sombras que usé eran muy mate.

Procedí con iluminador dorado, pestaña postiza, y labios difuminados en tono naranja y rojo oscuro.

En cuanto al peinado, me fui por un estilo “punk” que reflejara como rebeldía, fuerza, determinación. Por ello quise recrear como un “mohawk” con mi cabello, y así también darle más visibilidad al maquillaje y extensión a mi cuello. Para lograrlo, lo dividí en varias partes, y lo amarré con colitas, alborotando bastante las puntas para no perder el estilo afro que ya tengo.

Decidí usar un vestido naranja para potenciar el color que ya venía utilizando en mi maquillaje, y lo escogí con ese modelo a los hombros con la finalidad de que el “make up” de mi cuello y rostro destacara aún más. Solo escogí un accesorio en mi oreja izquierda , que fueron unas argollas medianas, porque sentía que mi maquillaje del lado derecho captaba bastante la atención y no deseaba restársela usando más accesorios de ese lado.

Una vez culminado todo el proceso, me empecé a colocar la lava, la cual fue hecha con gel incoloro para cabello y pintada con colorante para repostería. Quería que se viera viscosa y brillante, y creo que logré que así sucediera. Con todo el maquillaje listo, empezó la sesión de fotos.

En cada fotografía quería verme con fuerza, determinada, hermosa pero caótica, elegante pero rebelde, con mucho fuego en mi interior, a punto de erupcionar como el volcán que estaba queriendo representar.

Esta experiencia fue abrumadora y de mucho aprendizaje para mí porque ese día estaba muy sensible, sentía rabia y frustración porque no me sentía bien, pero quería tanto lograr algo precioso también, que mientras seguía avanzando, fui sacando ese fuego interno dentro de mí a través de mis brochas, y éste terminó llevándose a su paso las emociones que me estaban perturbando, dejando una riqueza de mucha dicha y bastantes sonrisas.

Hello dear Hive's Red Carpet community! Today I bring you my entry for challenge 2, on the theme of Nature and Life.

My inspiration for this makeup was volcanoes and lava, as I feel they are beautiful and chaotic at the same time, just like life itself. I think most people think of volcanoes when they think of destruction or tragedy, because when they erupt, they can really cause misfortune. However, volcanoes bring many benefits to the Earth: they give fertility to the ecosystems, they generate geothermal energy that is used to obtain electricity, they also function as vents: they are responsible for expelling heat, gases and many minerals; all this is vital for the continued balance and development of the planet.

One of the reasons why I chose this concept is because I consider that we all have "volcanic" qualities within us. As we can give benefits to our life, we can also take them away with our thoughts and actions, when these are led by anger, fear, hatred, frustration, envy....

For this reason, my makeup has two sides: one that reflects a more chaotic side, more intense, as if I had lava running down my face, and the other is more delicate, beautiful, elegant. This is how I wanted to represent the duality of a volcano.

I did my makeup at a friend's tattoo studio, who lent it to me for 3 hours, and also offered to document the step by step makeup and my final photos. I have to confess that I felt a lot of pressure to achieve this concept in that amount of hours since I'm not the most expert, and besides, I didn't feel good. But I had to make the commitment to be there and do the job I had to do with the best possible attitude.

Doing my makeup took almost 3 hours, leaving about 20 minutes just for the photos. But I wanted to realize the idea I had in mind, which was to make a 3D effect in the part of the lava and rocks. The rocks were made with liquid latex given to me by a friend who had used it for Halloween, and she explained to me how to use it. Being a substance that takes a while to dry, it was the first thing I applied and painted over it. I then proceeded to paint the lava with tattoo ink (donated by my tattoo artist friend), giving the colors a more intense effect. While the ink was drying, I proceeded to do my eye makeup in yellow and very dark red tones, culminating with an eyeliner and some black pebbles, accentuating the dark and chaotic look I wanted to reflect. Then I started with the "glam" part of the makeup. I prepped my skin with my foundations, and then I started to blend the orange color with the yellow, to continue playing with the lava shades. I finished with a "cat eye" style eyeliner, and some pebbles in a similar shade of the shadows to give a little more shine to the look, since the shadows I used were very matte. I proceeded with gold highlighter, false eyelashes, and lips smudged in orange and dark red.

As for the hairstyle, I went for a "punk" style that reflected rebellion, strength and determination. So I wanted to recreate a "mohawk" with my hair, to give more visibility to the makeup and extension to my neck. To achieve this, I divided it into several parts, and tied it with ponytails, making the ends quite messy so as not to lose the afro style I already have.

I decided to use an orange dress to enhance the color I was already using in my makeup, and I chose it with that model on the shoulders in order to make the "make up" of my neck and face stand out even more. I only chose one accessory on my right ear, which was a pair of medium-sized rings, because I felt that my makeup on the left side attracted a lot of attention and I didn't want to take away from it by using more accessories on that side.

Once the whole process was done, I started to apply the lava, which was made with colorless hair gel and painted with baking color. I wanted it to look viscous and shiny, and I think I made it happen. With all the makeup done, the photo shoot began.

In each photograph I wanted to look strong, determined, beautiful but chaotic, elegant but rebellious, with a lot of fire inside me, about to erupt like the volcano I was trying to portray.

This experience was overwhelming and a learning experience for me because that day I was very sensitive, I felt anger and frustration because I didn't feel good, but I wanted so much to achieve something beautiful too, that as I kept moving forward, I was bringing out that inner fire inside me through my brushes, and it ended up taking in its path the emotions that were disturbing me, leaving a wealth of smiles and a lot of happiness.
