Floating in peace
I have been riding my OneWheel as often as possible over the past few days. I have been trying to build up the strength in my feet so that I don't have as much foot fatigue after riding for a mile or so. Foot fatigue is one of the most common things that new riders have to deal with because of the isometric contraction that your feet deal with while riding.
Isometric exercises are ones that you contract certain muscles and hold them contracted. So it is like a wall sit for my feet as they balance and maneuver on the board. I have found that riding off road tires my feet out a lot faster than on the pavement. Mainly because of the bumps and constant adjustments that my feet are doing.
Off road riding is a lot of fun, so I am hoping to build up the strength needed pretty quickly. I also want to continue to get more comfortable while riding so that I can start recording my rides with my new GoPro Hero 8.
Either tomorrow or Monday I will be taking the OneWheel to a trail that leads to a waterfall and I am thinking that is going to be my first video recorded ride. It should have some pretty nice scenery. I took the photos above last night while I was riding as the sun was going down. It was a nice peaceful ride.
Here is the route I took for my ride this morning. On the OneWheel app, I can upload images that I take on my rides, so that is pretty cool to be able to track my favorite rides and save pictures from them.
I took this picture this morning when I rode past a park in my neighborhood. Some guy funded the park and built a miniature railroad around it so that he can drive his trains around on it. It is pretty cool, but I have never seen it be used by anyone.
I am resting my feet for now, but I will be going out on another ride later. It is nice to have a reason to go and get out of the house more often. I was starting to turn into a hermit before I got my OneWheel. Now when I want to go out, I just pop in my headphones and float around.
