My first encounter with the indian skateboard scene.
Last december I was invited to photograph the Jugaad Skateboard Competition, event thar happens annualy in Bangalore, India. This was my first contact with the indian skateboard scene and I was very eager to attend. The comp ís organized by Gautham Kamath and 2021 was the 7th year it goes down. Needles to say, it’s already a tradition. Skateboardes from all over India as well as Nepal and the Maldives gather at the GroundZero Skatepark for six days of really intense skateboarding. I can say I’ve met the bulk of India skateboarders. The scene is still young but the level is already high and it was beautiful to be there witnessing the blossoming of this movement. With ages going from four to forty, we all celebrated our common passion for skateboarding. The last time I photographed skateboad before the event was some seven years ago, and I was also using a different equipment from what I was used to, which made thing challenging in the first day. Dispite some setbacks, I was pretty satisfied with what I got.
