A gnars trip in Buenos Aires for Dev Connect
Nogenta x Gnars
On November 15th, my friend Humberto Peres and I took a flight from Brazil and landed in Buenos Aires, Argentina, to participate in the Dev Connect Argentina week 🇦🇷, which took place from November 17th to 22nd.
Our first mission on Argentinian soil was to meet the Gnars community crew, who were organizing a skate x hacker house, and this was the main starting point for this trip. Through a proposal made at the Gnars DAO, I received an invitation to join this team and be the crew's filmmaker during these days in Buenos Aires.
That said, Humberto and I found our home for the next few days and right away we met our brother Vlad and met Willy and fattybuthappy, creating the first bonds on this trip. Time passed and new residents arrived, this time Pat, Pam Pam, and Luiz joined, bringing a lot of energy and making the vibe even higher. (And this happened with each new member).
The first day was for brief reconnaissance, paddling around the neighborhood in search of a place to eat and also to rest because Sunday would be full of skateboarding at 7capas skate jazz.
7capas Skate x Jazz
Skate and Jazz was a side event that took place on November 16th at Praça República Federativa do Brasil, organized by Gnars Community and supported by Nouns Dao.
It was a day full of skateboarding, with free sessions, best tricks, Nouns gifts, and a fashion show by Gnerics Vibes, all to the sound of great jazz played by local Argentinian bands throughout the day.
To start the event, our friend Gnerics Vibes, who came from Nigeria to Buenos Aires to participate in Dev Connect, opened the proceedings by showcasing her Nouns clothing line with a fashion show amidst the skate park 🛹, bringing very well-designed and high-quality pieces. I dare say it was one of the best Nouns swags at Dev Connect, and from that start, the event went even better.

Skate and Jazz already has a history, and this was its second edition, organized by our partner Luiz 7capas, who was our guide, producer, and friend for all times. Since the first edition, Skate and Jazz has had a noggle rail as the central obstacle in the plaza, which was the result of a proposal at Gnars Dao, inaugurating a new spot for the local scene and keeping the flame of Argentine skateboarding alive. The locals unleashed a storm of great tricks, and it was incredible to see how high-level Argentine skateboarding is.
The vibe, the tricks, the good people, made this side event a perfect start to our week that hadn't even begun yet, and we were already super motivated to start five consecutive days of dev connect x building x skateboarding.
Gnars Crew x Skate Hacker House
Before we fully delve into the event, I have to tell you a little about what it was like to be in a hacker house for the first time. I had participated in a skate house many times before, but a hacker house was different for me.
The vibe was great, and I noticed that because most of the residents were skaters, the vibe of the house was very much in that vein. But the coolest thing to see was the diversity of people, from different countries, languages, and cultures. In fact, it made me feel like I was in a global community with the same intention of building alternative paths for the future, both on-chain and in real life, through our art and what we do best. This energy was contagious. I need to give a shout-out to all the members of our skate hacker house, especially the Gnars gang, who made these days the best. Yooo Will, Zima, Vlad, Beto, Rato, Fatt, Patt, Willy, Nadiecito, Pampam, Benedict’s, Highlander, and everyone who was present during these days, thank you guys.
Start Dev Connect
That said, here begins our Dev Connect week, and it was incredible. It was a very busy week with so much to learn, discover, and some very special connections. During the event, we were based at the nouns.amigos stand.
A shout-out to oximonografia, who, along with an incredible group of people, made it the most artistic place at the entire Dev Connect event. An artistic residency took place at the stand throughout the event, and everyone could interact with the artists, their art, and participate practically in areas like painting, illustration, animation, and stop-motion. The atmosphere was amazing; a large part of the dev community was there, and it was enriching.
In addition, the event space had countless stands, ideas, projects on display, and everything that the future of on-chain development can expect. The days passed, and together with the Gnars Crew, we made our way through the event, building a connection between skateboarding, street culture, and on-chain culture. We produced a lot during those days, and during the event, we released two short videos of about 1 minute each, showing our vibe and energy within the event, showcasing the best of Gnars Dao as one of the most important on-chain counterculture movements. We are currently working on our next video, which will show more of our experience during our skate hacker house tour in Buenos Aires.

Those were incredible days, and I return to Brazil feeling fulfilled, with a sense of accomplishment and gratitude for every genuine connection with everyone who crossed our path and with whom we had an honest exchange, sharing information, working and designing ideas and projects together during our stay in Buenos Aires. Once again, thank you to each and every one of you who made these days the best. Thank you for reading and for your partnership so far.
