SteemIt is holding a tag based challenge called TheDiaryGame. They have about 400 people writing long diary posts a day. To no-ones surprise, the curators are giving most of the curations to insiders. There are about 50 accounts playing the game that have received no curations.
There is about 500 people playing the game. That is not a large number of players.
I played the game because I had been thinking about running my own tag based challenge on HIVE. I will use the tag #gpsphoto .
If you have a decent picture of a location on planet earth; simply include the GPS coordinates in decimal format and add the tag #gpsphoto . You must own full rights to the photo. I will curate the challenge from this account. My 100% upvote on HIVE is worth about $0.03 . My upvote on SteemIt is worth $0.005 (a half a penny).
I will place the images in the GPS Photo Gallery on my photo site. The photo site will use the OG image and have a canonical link back to the OG source of the photo.
OG stands for Open Graphics. If you view the source code of a HIVE post you will see each post has an OG image and a canonical link.
After I get a few entries, I will start making maps that show the entries. All maps will link back to the source of the images.
Yes, I fund my photo site by advertisements. The photo site costs me about $100/yr in hosting fees. The advertisements currently bring in about $50/yr a year to help offset that cost.
You can get the GPS coordinates for any point on the planet earth by going to google maps. Click on place on the map. This should bring up a box with the coordinates:
I took a picture of an abandoned building outside Park City. The image above is a clip from Google Map showing the building. I clicked on the building and Google Maps showed calculated coordinates for the structure.
I will put my entries for the challenge on my business account . I will give preference to others in the curation. I will probably only curate my entries if the total rewards for my post were between 0.0001 and 0.022. I do self-curations to sweep the dust,
GPSphoto and SEO
I probably should talk about the GPS Challenge and SEO. If you include the GPS coordinates of your photo and the tag #gpsphoto , I will put a link to your post on my web site. This creates a tiny SEO benefit for your post and for HIVE in general.
