Highlights
The announced $GODS staking rewards program is going to start in the next few days.
Combat log is almost ready too.Daily Play & Earn is expected to go live in about 1 month.
Migration of the remaining NFT types (should be boards, card backs, trinkets and chests) to L2 in about 2 months.
Role of the CoM - it is supposed to work as an Advisory Board, but don't expect all recommendations to be implemented. There is however a willingness to listen to arguments and to try and accommodate community proposals.
Solutions for first turn advantage are being actively explored by the GU team and may include some Sanctum benefit to the player going second. This problem is most severe in matchups where both players are using aggro decks.
I thought the interaction between the Council members and the GU team was really positive here and there is room for a continued exchange of ideas outside the CoM.Request to change matchmaking to prevent playing against the same opponent multiple times in a row. Also request for some measure of control to avoid a player going second multiple times in a row, particularly in tournament settings.
Council is of the opinion that CSR and MJ brought changes that were not well received by the player community. One particular example is the combo decks. There is a feeling that combo decks deny agency to the opponent to try and fight back. Work is being done to rework CSR and MJ to address player's feedback and also lessen the negative impact to midrange decks, which have fallen out of favor in detriment of combo decks.
Casual Mode (alternative to Ranked) before the end of the year. Vague reference to simple modes - plural - being rolled out too before the end of the year.
These new modes are going to yield rewards, like Ranked? And count for Daily Play & Earn?Other modes like Sealed also being worked on, but instead of hardcoding these modes, the GU team wants to build tools that would allow instead game designers to setup game modes (by "point and clicking" I guess) without having to write code or request assistance from engineers. Some game modes like Sealed and Draft require additional functionality on top of card restrictions to work and this will take more time to implement.
Sealed mode expected early next year, once the tooling part is completed.
Work to get this live should have higher priority and more resources allocated to ensure that it in fact can shipped before the end of the year. The game is dying in part due to lack of incentives and fresh things to do, and this mode would tick both boxes.GU team will look into enabling a Direct Challenge mode without restrictions, so that the community can self-organize other game modes using community websites and tools.
Council suggested leveraging the utility of the PTR by opening access more frequently to test changes before they are implemented.
I think this is necessary and very important. In a previous comment I made some suggestions to avoid the negative effects of too many people playing the PTR at the same time instead of the Beta https://www.reddit.com/r/GodsUnchained/comments/vnz3u5/comment/iefki6j/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3Council suggested rewards for filing bugs, in order to provide more data to the GU team. Chris Clay pointed out that this would encourage the submission of so many (low quality) reports that it would actually have a detrimental effect on the team's ability to work on the bugs. Council also asked for more transparency on which bugs are being worked on, which need more data, which are close to being fixed, to help reduce the community's frustration on this issue. GU plans to improve on communication of bugs.
There was really no indication during the meeting if the GU team at this point actually needs more reports to figure out the cause of some bugs. Knowing this would put players on alert to provide data on those bugs that still require investigating. There was an initiative on this a few months back that should have not been interrupted. I suggest instead of a bounty program, a fixed reward program for selected players that clock a lot of game hours and in particular those who are able to record their matches, like streamers.Council requested better community support on Facebook. There was also a discussion about how many non-English speaking communities are not being served by Discord or Reddit and more needs to be done to onboard and support non-English speaking players and also players who use other apps to socialize. Not everyone is keen on jumping on Discord and would rather stay within their preferred social apps. Request was made to provide better access to voting/governance for those players that don't want to use Discord. GU team replied that non-English support is really complicated at this point and fixing the voting system away from Discord would divert resources that are currently in use for higher priority tasks.
Governance and voting within the game client is probably the best solution for this.Kargas interrupted the meeting to complain about market fees being too high. GU team replied that this topic was not in the agenda and the meeting was running late already. So probably next time?
Yeah, fees are super high. I'd like to see this added to the topic list in the proper place and time and see it discussed in the next meeting, too. There will be an official Tournament event before the end of the year.
GU will move to support competitive teams. No details were provided.
Spectator mode is on the to-do list and will be worked on after the game modes are implemented.
Council asked for changes to eliminate unreadable player names, like squares or ???. GU team will change current system to allow open deck lists - everyone will be able to see the opponents deck. This will be revisited in the future, but the short term solution of open decks will be implemented soon. No ETA was provided for this.
