After some time of playing, I am convinced that Elyrian, God of Magic, has powerful creatures and spells.
Good Magic decks, which I have had the opportunity to face through great players, totally dominate the opponent, leaving him without many options and with a victory already well underway.
On the other hand, despite all this power and ability, Elyrian is certainly one of the Gods I've had the least opportunity to play so far.
So, to solve this problem and try to win with the God of Magic, which is important for the "Gauntlet of the Gods" event, I decided to test the creation of a magic deck using the magic cards I have and completing the deck with neutral cards.
I will share with you how the deck was put together, what good cards I have, how the deck was tested in a battle, the experience I got, the positive points and what can be improved in my deck.
And here we go.
As I said above the intention is to build a deck with the vast majority of magic cards and complete the rest with neutral cards. In my card base I have approximately 32 cards of magic, however many of these are repeats, so there are only 18 spells or creatures.
With this I have selected a total of 24 cards of magic, divided as follows: 2 at a cost of 1 mana, 5 at a cost of 2 mana, 2 at a cost of 3 mana, 2 at a cost of 4 mana, 8 at a cost of 5 mana, 4 at a cost of 6 mana, and 1 at a cost of 8 mana.
Among these cards the most powerful were:
Illuminate: a card for the early part of the battle with only 1 mana cost, but, on the other hand, able to do 2 damage to an enemy creature or predict 1 card. The damage magic of this card is very useful, since the vast majority of the initial creatures have 2 life points.
Tracking Bolt: Like illuminate, this is a direct damage card with low mana cost, only 2, but it causes 3 points of damage to an opposing creature or 1 point of damage to each of the creatures, its best use will be decided at the moment of battle.
Lambasting Wand: Relic with 3 points of resistance that causes 2 damage to the opposing God at the beginning of each round, consequently reducing its resistance by 1 point, or able to cause 6 damage in total.
Wyrmbreath: Simple and objective direct damage, 4 mana cost, but with the ability to cause 5 points of damage.
Ratify: A very good magic that will certainly surprise the opponent by causing one of your creatures, which can be a very powerful one, to be turned into a rat with 1/1 status.
To complete the team and compose the deck I chose 6 neutral creatures in order to have creatures on the battlefield and not allow my God to be easily attacked, so I gave preference to creatures with frontline ability, having been chosen: Cardshark, Tough Townsfolk, Shield Maiden, Battle Aurochs and Thebian Brawler (2x).
The deck then became the following formation:

Once the deck assembly is complete we go to test it in battle.
As Elyrian's power I chose Magebolt, which is nothing more than a direct damage of 1 point for the cost of 2 mana.
And, in the card draw, I looked for the creatures in my deck, instead of the spells.
Starting my first turn, I had to unlock a mana point and use Shield Maiden, a creature with frontline, aiming to have control on the battlefield and over my opponent's attacks.
Beginning of round 3 and I no longer had any creatures on the battlefield, my opponent on the other hand had 3.
So I decided to unlock a mana point and put Thebian in the game, which momentarily stopped the opponent's attacks from advancing.
Round 4 and what I was looking to improve ended up getting a little worse, as I kept the situation of having no creatures on the battlefield and my opponent, on the other hand increased his control.
I then decided to unlock another mana point and use the "Rune Writer".
Round 5 and the situation was still very critical for me. I decided to use the "Versatile Conjuration", causing 3 points of damage and destroying an opponent's creature, and the Mage Bolt, causing one point of damage and destroying another creature. All in all it was a good turn.
Round 7 and the situation was extremely complicated for me, the opponent completely dominated the battlefield and I had several ineffective cards in my hand that would have no effect on the game, leaving me with little choice but to wait for my defeat.
Which in fact obviously occurred.
The conclusion of this battle cannot be other than that my magic deck did not prove to be effective at all. I had no control of the battlefield and did no damage to my opponent, it was a perfect victory by him that gave me no chance to do anything at all but defend myself.
My opponent, although he was also using a magic deck, was able to keep creatures in battle at all times, which is certainly a learning I need to improve on in my deck.
The bulk of the damage it did to my God was through creatures, not spells, and the spells were used for game control and to defeat my creatures, i.e. my view was totally misrepresented as to how to defeat the opposing God with a magic deck.
Therefore I have no choice but to rethink and remake the deck, drastically reducing the amount of spells in my deck and increasing the amount of creatures, either through God of Magic cards or Neutral cards.
But for this I need to acquire new cards of magic, either through packs that I win during the game or buying them in the market, which I will do, but this is a subject for a future post.
So that's it friends, this was my experience, I hope you enjoyed it and thanks for reading.
