Greetings to GU community,
Recently I had a really bad losing streak with Food Chain so I went down some ranks. I did not have a good win rate there, so I decided to rent some of the expensive cards for this deck by Lootrush.
I was curious about this deck and always wanted to try this deck out since it seemed it can pull the combos easily and it looked like a strong deck.
Explaining the Combo
This deck has 26 one mana cards because Lost In the Depths would obliterate all the 1 mana cards. It also has only 2 spells which is Lost In The Depths. Undertow Striker can find LITD in your deck, so you are basically running four LITDs in your deck.
After obliterating, you would have 2 Warp Engineers, Giramonte and Divine Coronet in your deck. At turn 4 with a pip, you can play 2 Warp Enginners to reduce Divine Coronet's cost to 1, and play it.
The next turn, you can play Giramonte and play Divine Coronet. Giramonte's effect would add 1 mana 1/1 Divine Coronet to your hand, and you can choose a 9 mana drop. If you have another pip, you could play it again for more Divine Coronets. If your opponent cannot answer Giramonte at their turn, at next turn you can play all the 1 mana copies to get multiple Divine Coronets in your deck.
Because you can reduce Divine Coronet's mana cost at turn 4, it is most likely to play LITD at turn 3.
For that reason, you can also play Magebolt instead of Clear Mind. With Magebolt, you could clear creatures, deal extra damage and take less damage from fatigue if your deck is empty.
Counters
In fact, there are many counters to this deck. Some of it would be blocking the board, AoE Destroy spells or stealing the combo pieces with The Dearly Departed.
So, this deck is usually weak against those decks. (They are examples):
Heal Light which blocks the board
Refresh Nature which heals until they destroy
HRD / Anubians / Rocketdrake which is too fast(it has 0% WR against HRD in mythic)
Game
I did not play a lot of games with this deck, but it is really easy to play. You can get this deck's general idea after you play some games. In this video, I played against War.
Mulligan/1 Mana
Looking for LITD. I did not find it. I play Atlant Forger for foresee 2. They are playing Dragon war, so I have some time for my combo.
2 Mana
Still no LITD, so I play my 1-drops.
3 Mana
I draw Divine Coronet. I use GP on their 1/1 and goes face.
4 Mana
Undertow Striker finally! I use it and plays LITD immediately. Since I have my combos in my hand, I know the last card is another Warp Engineer. They play some creatures.
5 Mana
I play 2 Warp Enginners to play Divine Coronet for 1 mana. Next turn, I have the combo.
5.5 Mana
I play Giramonte, Boon Tinkerer and plays Divine Coronet. I choose Tyet, Heir to the Sky because it has ward and Frontline. I use my pip for another Divine Coronet. They play Shalefire Hatchling which gets +1 strength when a card is played. My opponent is able to clear the 9-drop.
6 Mana
I play Divine Coronet again and I chose 12/12 with Frontline, Protect and Ward. I make a mistake here; clearing the Shalefire Hatchling with Gp and Giramonte would have been the best play. However, my opponent concedes.
Conclusion
It seems like a really fast deck. However, there are more faster decks than this such as HRD or Schoolteachers. It has a more straightforward win condition though. In my opinion, playing Chosen one Coconut is more fun than this deck, although it has less win rates.
