The Last Month
I’ve been playing less GU over the past month. I used to put in the extra effort to get at least 30 wins for the weekend ranked event, but even that has been reduced to just playing the 25 matches to qualify for the rewards. Last month was also Expansion month, with the release of the new Mortal Judgement set being in late April. I had hoped this would ignite the previous spark again, however, I just quickly glanced over it. The new mechanics look amazing and should bring variety in gameplay styles. So the only conclusion I could draw is that I’m BURNED OUT from playing too much GU in the beginning. It also doesn’t help that my other gaming commitment FFXIV, released a new PVP mode in the latest update which got me really excited for a totally different gaming style. But don’t worry, I’m not leaving GU. The community is amazing and see potential in the growth of this TCG. I’ll just be playing a bit less until I’m recharged again and ready to take part in new tournaments.
Here’s some of the results from the weekends I was still keeping trying of just as the expansion released. Been doing pretty average with around a 50% win rate. Quite a coin toss, I’ll need to take some time to collect the new cards and build new decks, as I am mainly still playing with pre-expansion builds.

The new expansion is finally here! Get your packs now. This expansion introduces 3 new exciting keywords to spice up gameplay even more.
- ECHO: This allows to to have a cheap 1/1 copy of the card you just played so you have double it’s benefits. Twice the roar effects, buffs, debuffs... you name it.
- EMPOWER: Ever wanted some variety for late game plays? Empower cards allow just that, play them early as a standard card or EMPOWER it with more mana to gain extra benefits and beef to dominate late game.
- TEMPT FATE: This is for the true RNG lovers. If a TCG gameplay didn’t have enough randomness, add playing NATURE and TEMPT FATE, and you have RNG on steroids. Playing creatures with this keyword can give a you a double or nothing bonus.
I’ll be experimenting with these as soon as I’m focused on deck building again and have enough new cards in my collection.
