First of all, I'd like to thank everyone who curates my posts and votes for them. I hope you enjoy my reports as much as I do :)
Even though some of the results I post are very small (like this one), the magic (and work and effort) lies within the application I created to make these reports.
It began about 2 years ago. I stumbled upon the God Unchained API and thought "Hey, nice. There's all the data that other game companies never give out. Let's see what you can do with it.".
So I started to code and wrote an application that took the data from the GU API and saved it in a database. I started with match data and decks and looked at the win rates for the different decks. After that I wrote a report to see how many players are active in GU.
Eventually IMX was released and there were also an open API. I integrated the IMX API as well to get some insights into the GU card market.
Now, 2 years later, and many hours of my spare time, the application has grown to around 30,000 lines of code.
The database grew to approximately 13 GB of data at the time of writing:
- It contains 18 million recorded games. (The first game started on July 11, 2019.)
- 9.6 million decks
- 311,000 Users
- 15 million IMX assets
- 2.6 million GU card sales on IMX
I fixed a lot of bugs and avoided a lot of weird API anomalies. There were times I coded more than I played GU.
Can't count the nights I had to fix a bug before I could go to bed. And if there were no bugs, then I had to look at the application's performance. There always seems to be something to be done or to optimize. But I have fun with things like that :)
From time to time I have posted some of my reports on the GU Discord, but it never lasted long in the endless scrolling chat channels.
