Huge Potential in Card Renting
That's something I discovered accidentally. One day, I was testing a Carvings deck, and I thought it was really strong. I also noticed that some key cards were quite cheap. For example, I bought 2x Diamond Dreadwing for around $4 each. I also added Rally the Band to the Carvings deck, it was quite good in Carvings, but the card is awesome for any War deck! So, I bought 2x Diamonds for about $7 each (steal right?).
A week later, I decided that Carvings decks weren't for me. However, I didn’t want to sell those nice cards for such a low profit, so for the first time, I posted them on LootRush.
Renting Success on LootRush
It turns out that people rent a lot, so much that many meta Diamond cards are unavailable! At that point, I was mainly playing Nature, so I crafted a plan:
- Buy all the good, cheap shiny Nature cards.
- This way, regardless of meta changes, I'll always have a strong, shiny deck to play.
- During events or formats like "Underdog", I'll still be able to play a shiny Nature deck.
- Rent out idle cards I’m not using.
After about two months, I must say the plan works perfectly. The best fee earner for me is Rally the Band, but during Underdog formats, some cards surprised me. For instance, I crafted Infested Satyr for around $3 and it turned out to be in huge demand!
The Challenges
The only challenge in this side hustle is that I have to monitor prices and adjust them from time to time. Some Diamond cards aren’t even listed on LootRush, so the best approach in these cases is to check the price for the Gold card and estimate a reasonable, affordable price for Diamond.
From what I’ve noticed, people are willing to rent top-tier cards for long-term use at up to ~$0.1 per day. For cheaper meta cards, $0.05 seems to be the sweet spot.
Key Tips for Pricing:
- Service Fee: Remember that LootRush takes a 10% service fee.
- Short-Term Rentals: Some quality cards are only rented for a few hours, so it's important to account for that.
- Long-Term Strategy: It requires practice and patience to find the sweet spot. Renting at slightly lower prices but ensuring consistent demand can maximize profits in the long run.
With a bit of strategy and persistence, this system can become a rewarding GU side hustle!
Current Opportunities
For limited time, LootRush has a promo for listing Diamond meta cards. While the cards will be locked for a few days, you’ll get a nice bonus. So far, I’ve earned $16 from renting, which I reinvested into another Diamond card. I feel like this is something worth exploring further!
