A weekly recap of my Mythic Weekend Ranked experience, attempting to do a Free-To-Play (F2P) Gauntlet with all the Gods to show that they can all compete and get Legendary packs. Previously I’ve done Nature , War, Magic, and Death; this week is my first weekend with Light.
So last week I decided that I would play Deception for this weekend but during the week there was a balance update which buffed Light and nerfed Magic, Deception, and Nature – see here. This shook up the meta a bit and the OP Magic decks gave way to people trying their hand with Light. I made a last minute decision to play Light Friday morning, not because of the buffs, but because of this Reddit thread I saw. It was glorious. One of the most budget builds I’ve ever seen, using only 2 Divine Order cards and the rest were Core, and more than half were neutrals. This also meant I had most of the cards already, so I decided to build something like it and give it a try last minute before starting Weekend Ranked. Probably not the best strategy as I didn’t have the hang of the deck, but it ended up not too badly with 14 wins. I think with more practice this will definitely reach my goal! Another cool thing with this deck is that it uses all 3 of the God Powers depending on who you face, which keeps it interesting!

Even with the meta shakeup, I was playing mostly against War and Nature, although Light definitely stepped up a bit in terms of frequency. I was 50/50 with Nature but lost more against Light, however I crushed Magic this weekend. Again I feel like if I had more practice I would’ve won more and probably reached my goal. Not only that but I lost a game against Light because of a bug! I reduced my opponents Vexing Vicar to 0 strength then used a Munosian Infiltrator on it… which should have killed it right away but it stayed on board as 0/0. Then I ended my turn, at which point it actually died, but then came right back onto the board as a 0/0. After that, I was unable to target it, and unable to attack around it (since it has frontline…) and yea, it was horrible haha. The lesson is… don’t use Munosian Infiltrator on a warded creature until they fix the bug!!!
If they don’t nerf some powerful Light cards this week I’ll definitely be going for 15+ again with this deck. There might be some changes I’d make to it, perhaps a Cudgel of Atonement instead of Ritual Rod for some additional heals (there were a couple of games where I lost against an Aggro War by 1 turn before I could stabilize!), and hopefully I can open a Vexing Vicar from my packs this week. I’m definitely not overpaying for it since it’s a Core card but supply is still low and the demand is wild for these Light cards right now.
Nothing too wild this weekend, got a second (non-gold) Parthene Proscenium, and a few decent cards, but none that really help with Light or Deception which are the two gods I have left. I already forgot which Core Legendary I got haha.
