I just finished harvesting all of the cocoons from my Mason bees. It's hard to say how many I got for sure but probably over a thousand bees.
The boards were packed with mud and bees, made them weigh alot. Had to use a hand truck and some ratchet straps to get them to my garage.
The boards worked great, I was amazed how many cocoons were in each channel. I used a stick to knock them out so I can clean them.
I took lots of pictures and did some video. And will follow up with a post in the next few days showing them. But I need to go through them and figure out which pictures are keepers.
I filled up three jars with cocoons. Two pickle jars and a jam jar. I think I have more than last year.
Stay tuned for my follow up post with lots of pictures. But just wanted to let everyone know that the harvest was a success. And the boards did better than I could have ever expected. Cleaning them out was alot easier too. So all and all it was a good day with the mason bee cocoons.
