While creating contents can be fun and satisfying, it’s definitely not an easy process especially when you are creating a practical content.
I sat down and processed the stages I pass through to make practical contents and so summarized them into ten stages. These stages cut across both practical and non practical contents. This is not an all inclusive list. It could be more or less depending on what is being created. Feel free to add more stages or buttress on any one that synchronizes more to you in the comment session.
The ten stages of practical content creation
The first stage is what I call the mind making up stage. This is that moment when you have to make up your mind that you want to create a content. It could be spontaneous or could happen through a time period. Depends on what I want to create, I noticed that I need to decide that I want to create a content first before every other part of me begins to align to that decision. If this phase is not achieved yet, no content is on the way.
The second stage is the stage of deciding on the type of content to create. It’s having to carve out a niche or a topic, area, field or angle you want to write from or write about. No niche, no content. You can’t just start blabbing. Even if you want to blab, it must be about something right?
The third stage is the sourcing stage. Sourcing for information, materials and details to make up your content. For practical content creation, you source for funds to buy what you need. This could be going to a particular website, or watching the news to get information.
The fourth stage is getting the materials. You go get the materials you need for the content. For a practical content, that would involved going to the market or shop to buy what you need to start.
The fifth stage is the content creation stage. You start writing. Start the cooking process, start the crocheting or drawing or whatever it is you want to create content on.
The sixth stage is the documentation process. This works hand in hand with the fifth stage. For example if am creating a cooking content, I would have to take pictures or videos of the process else my content creation won’t be complete. Documentation is a crucial part of practical content creation.
The seventh stage is the actual creation stage. Now you have your materials, processes and all documented. At this stage you begin to put them one after another to make a coherent story. Starting from the first step to the last. This requires time and concentration.
The eight stage is what I call the review stage. Here you settle down to go through your work and cross your Ts and dot your Is. You ensure that there is coherency in your content and everything is where it should be.
The ninth step is the Satisfaction stage and posting stage. When we have gone through the content and you are satisfied with the outcome, then we go ahead and post our content in the desired location.
The last stage is the anticipating engagement stage. No one loves to work without the work being admired or engaged with. When we make contents, we want people to engage with it through reading, commenting and curation. A totality is this brings the ultimate satisfaction to a job well done.
Content creation is fun and a worthy profession. To all the content creators in this beautiful community and beyond, you are doing a great job. Keep showing up and doing great things.
