Have you ever had to do things all by yourself with no form of care, assistance, or a bit of attention? You would agree with me that It's difficult to somewhat live alone, struggle, and meet your needs all by yourself. A thing about dogs or pet animals that I know is the fact that they love every form of attention they get from their keepers, they like to wag their tails, jump or run around when excited, curl around your arms when picked up, and these animals understand what little show of affection and attention they get.

Dogs are usually known for their companionship and also they serve as a form of security or house guard, protecting the lives and properties of their owners or keepers, other than these common roles, in some places or cultures they are eaten or consumed as food.
Over-population & Disease Transmission
Over-population has always seemed to be a challenge, usually when the number of individuals exceeds the carrying capacity of the ecosystem and resources are limited, there is always the tendency for competition for food, shelter, and mate and outbreak of diseases. Usually, depending on the size of the female dogs (bitch), larger dogs tend to have the capacity to have or birth larger groups of puppies ( litters) while smaller dogs have smaller litters.
Research has shown that a larger-sized female breed gives birth to about 8 to 12 puppies and the smaller female breed usually births 1 to 6 puppies with an average of 3 to 4. It is common for individuals who keep dogs solely for security reasons or purposes to feel burdened keeping a large number of dogs to care for, feed, and shelter them. What then happens, is that these individuals or persons throw or abandon these dogs out in the open to care and provide for themselves. And exposure to such conditions can make these dogs become very aggressive and hostile to humans or other animals within the vicinity.
Stray dogs do not have anyone claiming ownership over them, they struggle to survive on their own with little or no affection and attention, sadly these dogs become vectors or carriers of some deadly or dangerous diseases including rabies which can be transmitted from bites or scratches from these dogs.
Proper Care & Vaccination
In 2015, the National Library of Medicine reviewed one of its journals, the "Review of "bacterial and viral zoonotic infections transmitted by Dogs". this study shows or points out that some viral infections such as rabies and Norovirus and bacterial infections like salmonella, brucella, and campylobacter amongst other zoonotic diseases can be transmitted to humans by dogs through infected saliva, contaminated urine or feces, aerosols, or even direct contact with an infected dog.
Rabies which happens to be the most common viral infection from dog bite can be deadly if not treated immediately and properly. Symptoms of this viral infection may include fever, hallucinations, aggressiveness, maniac behavior etcetera. It is easier for the victim of such bites to get access to medical help or assistance from a pet dog who is owned and cared for rather than a dog who roams the vicinity with reckless abandon.
It is very important that when one chooses to adopt or shelter a straying dog, he or she must carry out necessary medical tests to ascertain the health of the dog or pet. This should be done by a veterinary doctor. Also, proper hygiene should be observed before, during, and after handling. Dogs should be treated. They should be vaccinated against rabies and other viral or bacterial zoonotic infections. The reason is so that the health of the individual, community, or nation is not compromised. Stray dogs especially should be taken out of the street, treated, and cared for. In the case of breeding, the sole aim should be focused more on the health and well-being of the dog.
A sense of responsibility for pet owners
Owning a pet or dog provides a sense of responsibility to the owner, one is concerned and responsible for the health and general well-being of his or her pets or dogs as the case may be. some individuals or groups of people keep higher breeding dogs like the German shepherd breed which consequences attract a lot of spending and resources in maintaining and keeping them, these expenses range from their feeding to their health. An epidemic or outbreak of zoonotic diseases can negatively affect the economic state, growth, and stability of the affected locale or region. An epidemic or outbreak of zoonotic diseases can affect the economic state, growth, and stability of the affected locale or region.
Areas where dogs are widely consumed without restrictions usually have a higher tendency to suffer health-related challenges than others especially those infected dogs carrying bacterial infections and the meat/ flesh gotten from them are not properly cooked, these infections can easily be transmitted and cause severe health conditions to the victims.
It is a necessity for proper hygiene to be observed when adopting, sheltering, caring for, and feeding pet animals, especially straying dogs. Proper vaccination should also be administered to avoid the spread of Zoonotic diseases that can cause severe damage to man's health.
