Jupiler League Week 1 Saturday Previews

These are previews from matches involving Belgian Teams with all the latest on team news, player form, injuries along with my personal betting angles, ...

Today it's the start of the 2020-2021 Belgian League Season. It has been 5 months since the last league match, weather conditions are the hottest they have been so far this year and there will be no fans in the stadiums. Plenty of reasons to be extra cautious betting wise as every pre-game bet very much feels like a complete gamble at this moment. most of my focus this first week will be on live betting which I will be covering in the SBC Discord Channel.

Club Brugge vs Charleroi

Club Brugge played a poor match against a well organized Antwerp losing the Cup last week. They still have a lot of quality and play with almost the exact same team as last season. One of the reasons Club Brugge did so well last season is because they have a rock-solid defense with Mignolet in goal. As a result, they were a real Under team going 16W-9L on the under with similar stats both home and away. They did crush the corners market going 174-88 still going under 9.5 53.5% of the time. Charleroi aside froùm Nurio leaving also has a very similar team to last year. They did seem to struggle during the friendly matches losing a couple of them with big scores because they are tried a new defensive system. On offense, they also had issues to finish their goals. Charleroi traditionally is an under team especially against top teams. I do expect Charleroi today with a similar approach to Antwerp against Club Brugge. The confidence on the betting market in Club Brugge has taken a big hit after the cup match as their odds moved from 1.55 to 1.735 for a home win. Traditionally, Club Brugge always shines in its first home match of the season. Circumstances are different now though. I will mostly keep my eye on the home team for potential live-action. No Pre-Game Bets

Antwerp vs Moeskroen

Antwerp played a good cup match against Club Brugge. This one is a different situation though as they will have to play a lot more offensive. They do have a lot of quality and are certainly a team to watch. I do expect an overall more offensive-minded approach which might leave them a bit more vulnerable in defense. Moeskroen is now basically the 2nd team of Lille where young talents will be placed in order to gain experience. There are a lot of new faces in the team after many of the regulars that were loaned left. (Garcia, Queiros, Percia, Osabutey,...) They also lost their 1st Goalkeeper Butez who took a lot of points last year. So very little actual data on Moeskroen and it would be a surprise to me if they put up a solid performance today. I will also keep an eye out for the home team live. No pre-Game Bets

Standard vs Cercle Brugge

Standard was very unpredictable last season at times putting up a really solid performance while other times being nowhere. They mostly got the same team with a new coach now. They are missing Vanheusden and Oulare. Standard had a good preparation period also managing to keep clean sheets regularly. Cercle Brugge last season was a strange team with many matches where they deserved more but still ended up losing only being saved by a hot run late in the season. Their potential has always been higher compared to the results. This season they have a new coach and important player Stef Peeters left the team. Their preparation period was not all that good losing 3 of the last 4 and being unable to score in those matches. I took a small pre-game position on Cercle Brugge Team Total under 0.75 @ 1.88 with an eye to possibly trade out of it live.
