January is moving fast and as I look at my cell phone pictures I realize that I haven't taken many. I have spent a lot of time making sure paperwork is filled and filed, like this shot from our local chamber of commerce office.
Its been quite rainy around here, which is good for the soil and the plants, but not that great for getting outside type of motivation.
My wife is still on vacation, her second semester of masters degree starts the 31st, and its looking like we may have to go to Bogota for one week out of the year.
I'm prepared, I found a jujitsu club very close to her classes where I can't wait to roll again after many years.
My father in law is in the hospital again. We dropped down to Ibague yesterday to visit him, but couldnt actually see him. Hopefully we will be able to catch him at home before the end of the month. Anyway, we were able to help with some vitamins and other supplies that he needs that aren't covered by his insurance plan. Oh and I was able to borrow a 24 inch drill bit that I need to finish our drying rack.
I also have the story of the wheel chair I bought. Maybe it was an impulse buy, an old guy with cancer sold me his second chair, brand new, for about 100 bucks. Some people said I was silly, but I have been happy with the results so far.
First, back in October, a friends mom had a small stroke, and needed a chair, he was carrying his mom in his arms to the bathroom, kitchen, bedroom, etc. I told him I had one, he was so grateful. Over the next months, she did recover and is walking around again. I asked for the chair back, they polished it up and gave it back to me just last week.
Yesterday, I found out that my father in law needs a chair, at least for moving around inside the hospital. We are wrapping it up and sending it today. This might be the best 100 dollars I ever spent!
Just for fun I looked at new ones in Ibague yesterday. The cheapest is 130 bucks, and they just go up from there - it looks like a similar one to what I have is now closer to 200 dollars.
I had never purchased a wheel chair before but I just had a feeling.
Also - got the car back! We fixed the brakes by putting in a new brake pump, and in the meantime I had some doors built on the back. We also cleaned up the bed and sprayed it with this black stuff called P7, so far I'm loving it. I've been loading rocks in my free time, I pick them up on the street for free :)
There are still a few sections of road left to fix, this will be our goal this year, to get the car all the way up to our farm!
There is lots to do, so we'll keep working hard, and I'll do my best to take more and better photos to share!
