Honestly I am at loss for words… just another great day to be a Lineman. We headed up to the base of the Blue Mountains to install a new service for a house or cabin. Honestly I don’t know how well it will go building on an ingredibily steep hillside but that’s not for me to worry about. That’s the property owners deal. Lol We just need to get power to his meter but this scenery is so distracting…
With the apprentice off working with another crew, the local boys asked for some help getting this new service installed. As you can see there are a couple small roads cut in but no access to the pole. It’s a climber.
The hillside is steep but those Washington skies, pine trees and the grasses turning from brown to green totally distract from the burning in my calves from packing tools and material to the pole.
About 70 degrees Fahrenheit and a slight mountain breeze, were just perfect. Warm enough to get a little sweaty but Mother Nature’s fan was there to cool you off quickly.
With the mini excavator a fellow lineman tries his best to maintain that slope of the ground when back filling the trench. I think he is gonna have a permanent lean when he gets off that machine. We were cracking jokes about it for a while. We finished up installing the new service wire and energizing the meter base. Just a little cleanup on the trench and our job is done here.
My office is pretty nice, wouldn’t you say? Yet, it changes everyday. Just another Day With A Lineman…
